Yeah, that's what I'm saying, do what you want, even if I don't. I think it should be legal for this reason. Even though I don't care to use it, I don't begrudge other people who want to.Mroni wrote:Do whatever you guys want . I myself can be happy without inducing chemicals in my system.

Not true at all. Look at prohibition and all that. Alcohol is still legal and the government acknowledges all sorts of problems caused by it. I'd also like to say at this point that I don't do and never have done weed or even consumed alcohol (to a large extent ) and don't intend on it. Except alcohol when it's legal for me... maybe. But! The questions about legalization are many. To what extent would they be legal? I don't think it's a good thing, and I don't think it should be more accessible. But it is very useful aside from burning it. It has many uses, and even smoking it helps a lot for medical purposes on occasion.Mroni wrote:Legalizing weed would be like saying there is nothing wrong with it.
And as for driving, the majority of tests I've seen have shown the reaction rates of marijuana-influenced drivers to be much lower than those of alcohol-influenced drivers. Marijuana is definitely a problem when people decided to drive. But I've been around many people that do it so often, and they don't like to drive when they're high. Only when they're drunk. Or both.
Anyway, I'm for legalization but not for individual use.

I don't know if this has been brought up yet (frankly I'm too lazy to go back and read). But up here in Canada its being debated to decriminalize or even legalize it very soon. If Canada does legalize it, it'd be a huge boon to the economy, until the US realizes that they should too and does that.

I heard America's founding fathers hit the wacky tobaccy. That alone is enough of a reason to let people smoke it, in my book . Who knows, the concept and basic tenets of our nation may have been a pot induced fluke.
Ben Franklin was shopping for a deluxe hookah, and when he saw the price after the British tax was added, he was like, "Fuck this, man! These taxes bug me! I'm complaining!" and talked to his local British colonial official, who was like "Yeah, yeah, we'll pass it on to the King, your opinion matters, oy mate", and who then proceeded to use the complaint form to pick up dog feces off the rug, right in front of Ben Franklin.
Ben went home and lit up HARD, because he was so mad. And he said to his buddies Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, who were also there toking:
"You know, like, what'd be, like really, really funny and, like, awesome? If we didn't have to pay the British, like, taxes and stuff, and we could, like, complain and like, they wouldn't pick up dog shit off the floor with it, man!"
Thomas Jefferson and George Washington both laughed out loud at this, because Ben Franklin said "dog shit", and then they laughed at his whole "taxation without representation" and "democracy" statements.
They kept laughing until Ben's house slave John, who had been born with that name, not "Moshanti" like Ben annoyingly kept calling him, interrupted to deliver a tray of "munchie killers", and also mentioned that he thought democracy, liberty, etcetera were great ideas, as well as abolishing slavery, since all men were created equal in the eyes of God.
Washington and Jefferson nodded at these ideas, but unfortunately for poor John, they had puffed up right around the time he mentioned the slavery part, and burst out laughing, mostly because they found the word "God" funny. True freedom wouldn't come until later.
Anyhow, the rest is history.

I'm too lazy to read all this stuff ,I only got through the first page, anyways.
Marijuana is not legal because to the government nothing should be. It isn't their job to protect people form themselves, if someone makes a stupid mistake and takes their life in the process oh well, it was their bad and they paid for it., The government is not trying to inervein with anyone's affairs. How ever it's called a little something like homicide when those stupid people make a mistake and take their lives as well as anothers, not to mention not killing themselves but killing others that didn't make stupid mistakes anyways. So if it was up to government nothing would be legal, not even cigarettes because of second hand smoke, though not as lethal as homicide it causes symptoms in people that do not smoke.
As to why alcohal and cigarettes are not yet illegalized is because it would completly and royaly fuck the economy, and everyone that drinks and or smokes would have a shit fit.

alright, I finaly read through all of this, one thing I want to clear up to all fo you guys is the holland bit. This is ot an opinion of mine, I lived there in The Hague and went to school in Amsterdam and I'm going to tell you children how it is.
*There arn't masses of people getting high on the streets
*There arn't tons of shops that specialize in selling marijuana
*It's considered rude and done quite discretley
*You see even less people smoking pot on the streets than you see people drinking on the streets here, I doubt very many of you walk up and down the streets of your town every day and see people with alcohal in their hands drinking, even less people there smoke like that.
*It is easy to get and sold just about every where, most often in drug stores, small grocery stores, and bike shops. Bike shops are not unusual because lots of people go in there, a bike is valued more than a car. If you leave your bike un attended too long I guarentee you'll come back to it stripped.
*The only big time fabricted rumor you guys have heared that is true is about the hookers. In the red light district, and the red light district only there are tons of hookers that walk around waiting to be picked up. Sure you can find them outside of the RLD but it's rare.
So there you guys have it, it's not a big country wide popular thing to do that swept the nation, it's common and done with. If it ever was illegal and then they made it legal, what ever craze that must have come has past and it's a common thing.
as for people like MrOni that think it must be bad and shit it's entirley un true. It is a substance that can be abused, I think it's fairly hard to do that though. it needs to be mixed with liquor and most of the time a shit load of other stuff. but you know what if you mix aspirin and tylonal with stuff, amungst cough syrup and other over the counter medicines you can fuck yourself up. The only reason it's not legal is what I've said above, the government wants to illegalize everything, and they know it will be abused.

Like I said, if people want to do it in their own homes I don't care. I really hope that physically addictive and very dangerous drugs don't ever become legal in this country. Like some other people said, if some people choose to OD and die then they can...but SOMEONE has to at least try and protect the weakminded and stupid. At least so our country doesn't become like Holland

no I read it all. But believe it or not, your second post wasn't there when I read your first one.
I don't see what impact it would have had on my post though....I still think the main reason the government wants to legalize marijuana is because they are missing out on a huge growing market to tax. And my opinion is I wish people wouldn't use anything addictive. My brother and sister in law smoke and they practically set thir money on fire because of it, they smoke so much. I imagine people who get mentally or physically addicted will still yearn for and seek out, then pay out the wazoo for their highs. It's sad to me but it's their life to live and die. The government wants to make a profit off things and cave in to squeaky wheels. No matter what direction they come from.
