well they wouldn't legalize marijuana because the amount of money earned through taxes isn't worth the increae of homicides that will follow. People will abuse it, get fucked up, and run their car over some church boys fresh out of sunday school, then who's fault will it be? The person for smoking and abusing marijuana with what ever else he/she took and if it had not been legalized the chance of this happening would be significantly decreased.

Weed was illegalized because it competed with cotton. On top of that, some of the heads int he governemtna t the time didn't like it and felt it was dangerous. They went from coast to coast burning hemp fields and shutting down farms that grew the stuff.
Me, I don't care if it gets legalized or not. I am not concerned with its benefits or whatnot, and I don't really care if its harmful or not. Here's my main thoughts on weed and weed smokers though...
1. The smell is pretty nasty. I know people who think it smells wonderful. Guess what? They smoke it a lot, too. I garguntee you that 99% of people who like the smell of weed only like it because when they smell it they start craving the stuff. It's like smelling your favorite food. You like the smell and want more. If you liked the taste of shit, I bet you'd be drooling at the smell of it too.
2. After smoking, you fucking reek of it for hours on end. I worked in Jamestown Mall in Florissant, Missouri this past week. If you're not familiar with the area, let me just say that it's pretty fucking ghetto. I am not a racist person or a stereotypical person, but you can usually spot.. and smell.. a stoner, be he black or white, from quite a distance. WHen I see a couple of bruthu's walking up to me wearing do-rags, baggy pants, a cigarette behind their ear, and one of their eyes open wider than the other, plus a wobble in their step... I know what the fuck is up, ok? So do cops, so be careful if you're one of those people. Dd I mention that after smoking, you FUCKING REEK? Okay, good.
3. Driving while high? Are you crazy? I drove high one time. Yeah. I thought a black SUV parked on the side of the road was a FUCKING TUNNEL!! I almost DROVE INTO IT! Weed is not only uplifting, but also slightly hallucenegenic.. it WILL make you see things sometimes, whether you wanna believe it or not. Did I mention that weed FUCKING REEKS? Ok, good.
4. The taste, much like the smell, is usually only enjoyed by regular smokers of the product. Just like smoking cigarettes (Which, after having smoked them for so long myself, I find rather tasted, mentholated, plain, or special blended... but I know plenty of people, most of them non-smokers, who can't stand tobbacco's taste or smell.) By the way, weed FUCKING REEKS!
5. Generally, people who don't know a lot about weed, and are against it, alsonever smoked it. THat's heavily to do with the fact that only smokers or people who are hardcore into getting it legalized even care about what it actually does, where it's grown, how it looks, subscribe to weed magazines, etc...... Plus IT REEKS!
6. WEED FUCKING REEKS!
Okay you get the idea. My main compaint is the smell, followed by the social rejects that seem to smoke the shit. nasty smell + lots of idiots smoking weed + me = not a happy me.
Now pardon me, I'm gonna go smoke a cigarette

We have doctor assisted suicide here in Oregon.
No weed though.
We grow a lot of grass seed in this state, so I bet marijuana would do well here.
While were at it:
<a href="http://members.ams.chello.nl/m.elfers/h ... >Amsterdam marijuana and hashish daily price quotes</a>. Apparently it's about US $8.00 a gram right now.
And R-A-N-M-A:
1. Isn't Canada, with its wealth of social services, hate speech laws, etcetera already something of a liberal hellhole?
2. And what good does it do anyone, to lock up people for nothing more than possessing a simple drug that makes people happy and goofy for a hours, depriving them of their freedom and happiness, as well as the monetary (marijuana price inflation because of the illegal status of marijuana, non drug police seizures, the cost of keeping people locked up, court mandated meetings, creating a potentially unemployable citizen who could otherwise pay taxes) and social (stretching police resources that could be used for other crimes, creating a mistrust and dislike of police, non-voluntary ruination of employment records, the erosion of civil rights from stepped up law enforcement by overzealous anti-drug politicians) costs.
Marijuana criminalization is an expensive, failed policy.

Well, you contradict yourself there. As you say it, and as the fact proves, in the Netherlands, where MJ is legal, there aren't as much smokers as let's say in Germany, or other countries where it is illegal. And trust me, no one will do homicide just because of weed. There are always other matters, maybe the person used to smoke weed, but there is no intention in it. Just because someone maked an accident with the car, when high, doesn't mean that MJ is bad! Remember how much people die every year in fatal car accidents related to alcohol? I doubt that there is even a percentage of this people who are high, and make fatal accidents. The person for smoking and abusing marijuana with what ever else he/she took and if it had not been legalized the chance of this happening would be significantly decreased.
No I won't say it's a good thing to smoke and drive. But it isn't any worse than drinking and driving...

Sure sure, whatever. "Legalize pot, and car accidents will shoot through the roof! We'll be double or triple the current rate!".Jace Tsunami wrote:well they wouldn't legalize marijuana because the amount of money earned through taxes isn't worth the increae of homicides that will follow. My ass. Our legal buddy, alcohol, is probably the leading cause of vehicle fatalities. Methamphetamines probably are playing a bigger role nowadays, too. I mean, I seriously can't recall the last time I've heard of someone stoned causing a car wreck. Or any real trouble. I hear about booze problems all the time. I hear about meth problems all the time.
Doing a "think of the children" straw man is a load of shit.

Uh, actually the amount of homicides would probably decrease. And it would certianly decrease if all drugs were legal. For my evidence, I point to what happened when prohibition ended(and what happened when it started). Also, im sorry man, but over all, even though youre not making your point, or stance on this very clear, im pretty sure that you have no idea what your talking about. Just for the sake of not miseducating anymore people, please just bail out of this thread. Dont want to sound harsh or insult you, but I got to be honest here.Jace Tsunami wrote:well they wouldn't legalize marijuana because the amount of money earned through taxes isn't worth the increae of homicides that will follow.
And garylisk, OK, I could understand how some people might not like that smell, but the whole "after you smoke it you smell like it for hours" thing is bullshit. Thats just paranoia of first timers. I went through the same thing. You think you still smell it, but its not really there, trust me. Has for those stinky stoners, well, either they smoke A LOT OF WEED, and are always hot boxing(smoking in a small room or space so you keep rebreathing the smoke and get a lot more high) or, in all likely hood, they also smoke cigerettes, and thats what makes them smell.
Also, has for the driving thing, again, dont drive high. However, ive never heard of anyone halucinating to that point, but some people handle it good, others dont. Either way, it doesnt really matter since you shouldnt drive high ever.

I'd rather be high and in the sky then drunk and in the gutter. I saw legalize it. Alchohol has a more vicious and dangerous effect to the body and is less poisonous then cigarettes. It's medicinal for fucks sake. Actually it might be a useless debate. Aren't they coming out with a happy drug that kicks like E without the side-effects. Shit! Where did I see that?!
