It does not mean not getting in means that one's videos in bad or something, I LOT of good videos just did not make the cut.
It doesn't mean anything when your video gets rejected or doesn't make the cut for seven consecutive contests (like mine did last year) even though it was very good. Scores can be the most unkindest of cuts. Still, even though I didn't enter this contest, I hope this turns out well for you all.

Oh well, maybe next year. So far this year showed me I have the potential to make something great (or at the very least, entertaining.) Now I just need pull myself together and make a comedy video worthy of AX. Because goodness knows we have to keep the comedy genre alive.

But for now I think I need to learn how to clean up my footage and properly compress my stuff.

Ok, serious Ryan here.

I've been getting a lot of pm's from people asking me what I thought of their videos as a judge, and not only do I not have the time to give any feedback (I'll be at E3 all this week and will be busy prepping for AX, AWA, and other events afterwards), I can't give feedback to everybody because if I do it for one person, it's only fair that I have to do it for someone else, etc.

I was hesitant about judging in the first place since my schedule is already so packed, but I sacrificed some time in order to help make this the best contest it can be.

I just want to make this very clear:

It doesn't matter who's judging or if you're friends with the judges. We were all given the videos without any names attached to them. Even if I knew who made the video, that didn't add any brownie points with me during judging. I don't know how the other judges did it, but I judged everything both fairly and harshly with the best interest for the contest.

Since I barely watch amvs or anime anymore, this was better for me, since I was able to watch most of the videos without any personal bias. Honestly, I only knew 2 or 3 of the videos beforehand.

Being friends with the judges does NOT increase your chances of getting in. Ever. In fact, I didn't even know who made which video for the most part.

Also remember there were more judges than me. What I say could be different than what another judge says. I'm still surprised a few videos I liked didn't get in.

And yes, I will admit there were quite a lot of videos that made me want to punch the screen. But I gave every single video my undivided attention from beginning to end. There were quite a lot of videos that really picked up and surprised me... and vice versa...

I will also still be keeping my vow of contest silence until the contest has aired and the results are in. Even if you ask me in person at AX next month, I won't say anything.

I dunno if the other judges will come out, and I don't blame them if they don't.

All I can say is, watch the contest for yourself and determine if you were worthy to compete in it or not. We judges made the decisions based on what we thought was best for the contest and you're free to change our minds by stepping up your game.

I didn't even know Castor was a judge... ^^;

Though, thank you for your time judging, Castor. I know it must be hard to be a judge and watch all those videos.

Btw, just how many in total was submitted this year?

No problem. I don't make videos anymore, but I still want to help others get up on the big screen. :)

Troy would be the best one to answer that since quite a few were DQ'ed before we got the amount we had to judge with.
