I'd really like to troll this panel.xstylus wrote:And that's why there's a 1hr panel in the AMV Room this year called "What's Wrong with my AMV?!" Several AMV coordinators will be on that panel giving an overview of what not to do when you enter an AMV competition, as well as the tech landmines that're most likely to get an otherwise excellent vid DQ'd.
Not that I'm singling you out or anything, but it might be helpful for some people.

That was pretty brutal...Vlad G Pohnert wrote:that was back in 2000... I remember that night, the room was freezing and I was shivering for to 7 hours it took to watch everythingKagatoAMV wrote:Congrats to all the finalists.
This was my first time as a Judge for AX, I found it both fun and challenging. Well, technically I guess I also judged for 1999 (or was that 2000?) but _everyone_ who entered was a Judge that year. That was a rough night.

I remember a few years ago I had a drawn-out argument with you where I was defending the merits of SUPER for ripping DVDs to DV-AVI and saying AviSynth was unnecessarily complicated... Well, long story short, I use AviSynth now. You were definitely right about that. Now I just need a few more terabytes of hard drive so I can store lossless 1080p episodes instead of frameserving 10-bit x264 into Premiere Pro CS6 using 64-bit AviSynth and FFVideoSource... you'd probably have a heart attack if you saw my setup (I think about half of my research into getting 64-bit AviSynth to stream 10-bit video lead me to posts of you advising people not to use 64-bit AviSynth)Pwolf wrote:I would disagree but that's a whole other discussion I've already gone over in other threadsKazemon15 wrote:since judging an AMV is all solely based on personal opinion of the AMV itself...
(The 10-bit source is just for one video, anyway )

Theatric rings a different bell in my head as compared to Horror. Can we expect this to persist to next year for categorization? I'd love to see the Drama/Theatric/Horror category.xstylus wrote:"Theatric" (not Theatrical -- my bad) is basically a fancy way of saying... ...er, "Drama."
