I can foresee that idea having to rely heavily on the honor system.pan_dbgt01 wrote:I just got an idea for the Challenge!

I think he means that you can create a video with little to no effects in an NLE program. Effects really are always optional. Maybe a better idea would be an award for best basic editing? That can be harder for people than you think. It's easy to be tempted by effects.pan_dbgt01 wrote:You mean people cheating?drewaconclusion wrote:I can foresee that idea having to rely heavily on the honor system.pan_dbgt01 wrote:I just got an idea for the Challenge!

Oh okay. That makes sense. I guess this wouldn't really work then.

I can only think of two reasons for such a challenge: either to have a laugh at everyone being forced to work with a clumsy program interface (I haven't touched WMM since 2006 so I've no idea if this is still the case) or to make a basic or no-effects video. However, the latter reason doesn't hold up well due to what NightMistress85 said. Actually, if you were a bit of a masochist and a fan of irony, you could make a no-effects video solely in After Effects just for the hell of it. But yeah, with just the outputted video, it'd be tricky to backtrack and rule out that someone didn't use a different editing program.
No, there is merit to the challenge of making a no-effects video. Just going about it by restricting the editing program to WMM complicates it unnecessarily though.pan_dbgt01 wrote:Oh okay. That makes sense. I guess this wouldn't really work then.

I will say that iMovie is a much better editing program than WMM. I made my first AMV with WMM in '07 and then my second one with iMovie 6 and then I vowed to never to use WMM again. But then I moved on to Adobe so I don't know if they've changed things around for either one.

I honestly hate when people on Youtube post auditions or contests and say No WMM allowed. Unless there is a GOOD reason like a Candy or Effects Studio it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
I enjoy making something better than they can do on WMM and them going, "Wow." I dunno, I just like to look out for people.
Anywho, that was what sparked the idea. Yes it's true though, I can make something in Vegas that looks like it was made in WMM ofc.

Music Videos using an anime and song from the same year. Nothing pre-2000.
