Re: Anime Expo 2013 AMV Competition - FINALISTS POSTED!
I had *so* much fun at AX this year. I was awesome meeting all the creators of some of my favorite AMVs, including the one video that triggered me to make my first AMV all those years ago! The AMV Room was jam packed almost all con, with AMV Chef and the Ten Year AX Retrospective being my main highlights. Many thanks to Vlad, Troy, Nic, Brad and everyone else for working so hard to put on a great show all weekend long.
And of course, when the screen went dark after hearing "Darkness is coming..." during my video at the rescreen, I almost died of laughter. I can now say my AMVs broke two convention's contests now, woohoo! My prize this year is an awesome memory! So don't worry Troy, you don't have to commit ritual suicide from this editor, okay?
Thanks everyone for such an awesome con. Hope to see many of your again real soon, and if you were curious which AMV truly did bring Darkness to Anime Expo, here's a shameless plug .

My overconfidence (and booze) was my downfall...Rider4Z wrote:Ryan and I posted our AMV Chef battle. you may check out the awesome here http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/v ... 3&t=116065
and yes, booze was involved in ryan's case.

Congrats to the finalists and winners. I'll post some opinoins later though does anybody have a link to the Resident Evil video? I have a friend whose favorite game series is RE and I really want him to see that one.

I'll be uploading it (hopefully) tonight. If not tonight, then definitely tomorrow. Work kicked in as soon as I got home, lol.The Wired Knight wrote:Congrats to the finalists and winners. Personally, I think your video absolutely deserved to win and not just because it was so much fun. "Testing is the Future" had tons of skill go into it, especially for a first-time AMV (I was stunned by that) and ultimately was not only the preference of the audience but also the creators. If your fellow editors think you deserve it, then I tend to believe you deserve it!NoisyNinja wrote:On another note, I completely agree with Castor Troy concerning my video “Testing Is the Future”. I too feel that it should not have won Best of Show. In fact, when I was announced as the winner at the Awards Ceremony, I sank down in my chair because I felt so embarrassed of “stealing” the award from the more professional editors. They probably feel the same way I did when I did not win the AX 2012 Masquerade Best of Show for my Bioshock Big Daddy cosplay, which I spent hundreds of hours constructing. Personally, I wanted “Into the Labyrinth” to win Best of Show. The editor of that video perfectly integrated the twitch effect with the music’s rhythm.
Additionally, I hope future AX's allow all categories to run for best in show like this year. While I realize that hasn't been the case in prior years, I like the current system for choosing the Best in Show winner (the 33/33/34) and feel that if something appeals to the audience that much, it shouldn't be excluded from being chosen as Best in Show regardless of the category it came from. (I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of attendees ignored/didn't notice that rule anyway and voted however they saw fit...) I imagine it would also lead to a somewhat lessened sense of excitement for the ultimate winner as well if they were put in the position of knowing that a video from another category stood a really good chance of having been BiS but was disqualified just due to the category it was in.
One more thing. Does anybody know the name of the Noir Salva Nos remix that was played while everyone was pouring out of the room? I adored it and haven't heard it before.
