FOOTBALL!!!!! (or.. you know... soccer)

(Look guys. I'm just going to call it soccer. I know it's called football everywhere in the world outside of the U.S.. I am in the U.S.. I've grown up my whole life calling it soccer and I feel like if I were to switch to calling it football here it would simply lead to more confusion than it's worth)


SO. The English Premier League is starting up again in a couple weeks. Is anybody else excited? Are there any other huge soccer fans on the Org? More interested in other leagues (Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, J-League, etc.)? If you are a soccer fan, who do you support? And finally, who would be up for an Org fantasy premiere league (it's free)?

When I was young, I was a huge Juventus fan... Fifa games were awesome back then Now... I just don't care anymore about football, maybe due to the fact that Greek football teams never even enter the semifinals of Champions League.

I used to support Ajax back in the 90s, but lost interest since then. I do watch World/European Championships when they're on.

Make an account and set up a team. The team setup is different from other fantasy sports. Instead of a draft and trades, all players are available to all people, and you have a 100 point "budget" that you can spend on players, whose value is automatically calculated based on their performance and real-world value. You won't be able to buy ALL of the top-tier players so it's a game of figuring out who to splash big money on and what middle-tier players could overperform. Pretty cool system. And you can switch up your entire roster on a week to week basis.

You can make an account + team without joining a league, so if anybody makes a team, let me know, I'll set up a league and we'll all compete! I imagine Liz will be game for it.

I've been going to games for about 7 years, work for Goal.com Japan as a writer/photographer, have appeared as a Knowledgable Soccer Person on Japanese TV a couple times, shot last year's Club World Cup, and recently shot the East Asian Cup, so I guess I know a little about Japanese soccer.

EPL isn't my forte so I'd rather not embarrass myself in a fantasy league, though.
