when it comes to making amvs i'm a beginner that doesn't know the first thing about how to edit like the experts, so i wanna know where i should start. whether it be learning the basics of effects or how to add clips up right, i wanna know what best for me to start with.
In sony vegas I wanna know how to edit anime title logos like they do in abridged series, i also wanna know how to place the title where i want to in the video.
I have sony vegas pro 11 if that's any help.

Here's a YouTube playlist that covers most of the basics.

Ok 5-6 years of expierience here so I am sorry if this is long.
Clips: Don't throw random clips in the timeline. The timeline is the main thing in your amv, You need to keep it clean and you need to know what you're planning to do on it. To stop things like clips and audio from the episode. Go to library, right click a video, click ''Open in trimmer'' and right click on the audio wave and click what's higlighted in the pic here: http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/566/0rap.png
(I am doing a bigginer clips guide from my expierience, it might help) Now second thing is the most annoying subtitles. Do not panic, you don't need to download some programs etc. (Many people do the mistake and panic and start screaming it has subs lol) anyways got to pan crop of the clip that has subtitles like this:
http://prntscr.com/1vmwrc
and than move the box inside, you can move it from any side dw about that. It should look like this: http://prntscr.com/1vmx0t
Also remember always follow the beats of the song and don't make the clips too long!
(If you want some effects like zooming in and out, blur, beat effect, Linear Blur etc. Pm).

It may be frustrating in the beginning when you try to edit like all the videos you watch and enjoy, I believe the trick is to persevere and practice, also try not to get too frustrated as once you pass the first hurdle you will look back at your project and find that you as creator enjoy it to no end, hope you enjoy editing and goodluck!

One of the best things you can do when starting out is absorb your favorite styles, try and figure out what it is the editors that you admire are doing to create a smooth flow or impact. You'll end up finding your own style as you become more familiar with what looks right. I learned, more or less, from trial and error, I just edit and fix until it looks right. beta testing can help too. I'm always down to beta test and give advice on videos.
