How you got into AMVs:
The very first person who's AMVs I watched and respected was a guy name Maniaki. He edits a lot of psychedelic stuff and he visited the forum I was on a lot. I always admired the prospect of video editing but it was such a complicated thing to try at the time so I never jumped into it. I soon left those forums for about 2 years to do a lot of irl stuff. Then in late 2011 I discovered one of the Anime Boston videos on youtube, then I went on a massive AMV watching marathon with AB's videos from 2009-2011. After that I discovered stuff like Pure Thrust, a lot of Ileia and Shin's stun and that was it from there. I was looking for a new hobby too and this looked like it would be fun.

How you came up with your screen name:
My username on the old forum I went to was pacotacobell. I made it when I was like 14, don't judge me. After coming back to the online world two years ago I decided to change it up, and I did. Very unique, I know :p

How you discovered the Org:
I was originally looking for somewhere to learn how to edit better, and the first time I saw this site through Google I thought it was the worst thing ever. I just saw the front page but I was like, "WTF, why does this have a .org in the url, it can't be where the cool kids go." Then the lack of video thumbnails made me close the tab. Cue a few weeks later after I joined my studio I went back here and checked out the forums. I think the first subforum I opened was AMV Suggestions and when I saw posts from Ileia and Shin, I was all like "HOLY SHIT, these guys are actually like....talking on here. Right now. This is amazing." So then I signed up, started posting a lot, and that's the end of that. xD

Tell me about your studio, like how you joined/created it, etc... (If you're not in a studio, say why :P)
Oh I like this story. So I was still a little under a month into editing and I discovered this MEP (man, watching that takes me back). I think I found this MEP after watching all of Corsair's stuff, I was totally into it. xD So anyways I saw xTRIMPH's part and I was like, holy balls what is that anime I NEED TO KNOW. I was being a man and tried to figure it out myself by going through all her vids and seeing if she mentioned it anywhere in the comments or the description or anything, but I got nothing. So I ended up PMing her like a scrublord asking what anime that was. After going through her vids I discovered that her MEP group was having auditions, so I thought why not? I applied, she said she liked my audition video and that we should chat on Skype because I asked where this Majesty (the name of the MEP group) "group chat" was. I didn't have a Skype at the time or know how to use it at all so I had to set that up. After a few hours of chatting and stuff she asked me if she could invite me to another group chat where all of her friends were. I said yes obviously and that group chat turned out to be the chat for my studio, DMS (Digital Memory Studio). They were all awesome and nice (kinda weird to me at the time but hey, what editor isn't :p) and it wasn't until about 2 weeks later that I found out I was actually in that studio when I was invited into the group chat. xD

Long story is long. :P

Favorite genre to edit and why:
Romance is definitely my favorite, I just enjoy giving people the feels. Though I enjoy editing to any genre, it just depends on what week it is and what music I've been listening to. One week I was listening to the Fratellis nonstop so I wanted to edit action, but this week it's been Walk the Moon so now I want to edit a feel good romance. xD

Favorite newbie mistake you've made: (Give us a good cringe-worthy one!)
Hmm....probably resampling in my first 10 vids. I was seriously freaking out why the hell my clips looked weird after every video. If you go on my Youtube you'll see me complaning about it a LOT in my earlier videos. It's pretty embarassing. :P

First contest experience:
My first Con entries were for Anime Boston and Sakura-Con in 2012. I didn't get finalists in either but I enjoyed having a deadline. My first win was either Seishun Con or Otakon 2012. I'm really proud of those wins. Every time my family sees the trophies they think I'm some kind of professional, haha. It makes me happy. :D

Best experience you've had thus far with the community:
Hands down Project OrgEditor 2012. That was the most fun I have ever had editing. I met SO MANY new people from that contest and I made a name for myself through it as well. It was great.

Worst experience with the community:
If by community you mean AMV community and not just the Org, then it was this one dude who was trolling me by posting ridiculously negative and nonconstructive comments in every video I made. He stopped about a year ago but god that was annoying.

Why you edit: (If you don't edit anymore, explain yo'self!)
I think that the feeling of finishing a video is just the best. There's the obvious reason that I do it because I love anime and I love tons of music as well, but honestly, I just really fricking love this hobby. And besides, I have way too many AMV ideas to stop now. xD I haven't edited a video in a few months though but I've been meaning to. I just got a new desktop a few months ago after only using a laptop for the past 6 years, and it's tough adjusting to editing with a mouse and keyboard instead of a trackpad.

Future goals: (Editing, non-editing, whatevers)
Before the year ends I would like to make 2 videos, and hopefully have one of them win a category in Akross (if that's even a thing? if not then top 8 or 3 or something.)
For the long-term, I'd like to win an award at Anime Boston, Sakura-Con, Otakon, NDK, and AWA. Anime Boston is the most important to me because I've been following that contest since I started editing. It's really been an end-game goal for me.
And lastly I want to make a video that I'm 100% satisfied with. I think my videos so far are okay, but they have a lot of flaws, or they're just not memorable enough. I don't have a video that people know me for. When people hear my name I want them to think "hey that's the dude that made that really epic video, holy crap balls! O:" That's what I really want to achive. :D

How you got into AMVs:
- I was a huge DBZ fan and one day on YouTube I came across an AMV from an editor going by the name Dark Kamui. It was an AMV dedicated to Vegeta using Linkin Park's "In The End". Absolutely loved it so I started looking around for more AMVs and came across a user by the name of Vegeta90 (IF YOUR ON THIS FORUM PLEASE PM ME! HUGE FAN!) and then watched all his videos. Decided I would give a crack at it myself.

How you came up with your screen name:
I had originally signed up on this site, however I couldn't remember the account username or anything associated to it so if it's still around it's probably some blank page. I then signed up on YouTube going by the name SuperVegeta01. After a while people started calling me SupaVegi and Vegi. A great friend and my AMV mentor, Manijak (check his videos out, he's amazing!) decided to call me Begi (which I originally hated being called ).

How you discovered the Org:
Originally signed up on here, forgot the account, went to YT and got sick of the community there lol.

Tell me about your studio, like how you joined/created it, etc... (If you're not in a studio, say why :P)
I'm in NV - Studios, however I'm not even sure we are active anymore lmaooo. I haven't heard from any of the members except Soup, and according to his page he's in another studio lol.

Favorite genre to edit and why:
Action and character profiles I'd have to say. Or anything serious. Just in my nature to be serious lol.

Favorite newbie mistake you've made: (Give us a good cringe-worthy one!)
Well I started sending out personal messages to other editors on YouTube asking them to watch my videos. I wasn't aware that there was a difference between sharing and PMing them so I kept doing it with every release lol. After a while a bunch of editors, much more skilled than me at the time, got annoyed with all the PMs and came by and started trolling me saying how I sucked and would never get better and that I better not PM them anymore lol. I had no friends in the community other than my cousin who went by the name FusionSuper17 so we started raging these guys and since then I've gotten better than almost all of them, still got one more of those guys to prove

First contest experience:
Shoot, I can't remember the guys/girl's name but I entered a dbz video and ended up coming in first place. I was so proud of myself lol.

Best experience you've had thus far with the community:
Mid 2008 - mid 2009 was the best time I've ever had editing. I was in a studio called Golden Kamehameha Studios (GK Studios) and we started getting a lot of attention on YouTube through our consistent releases of good AMVs. Even though I was never too active with editing, I was part of it all and I had the greatest time meeting people and just having fun bullshitting lol

Worst experience with the community:
Ehh, before I learned the antics of trolls. I got trolled on Youtube by a bunch of members who considered themselves "Org Elites". I took it serious with them and started an all out rage war with them vs myself and GK Studios. IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO A SERIOUS BETA BATTLE lmaooo (which was voted a tie, even though I truly was the winner). I felt like an idiot especially considering when I found out who these people actually were in the AMV community lol.

Why you edit: (If you don't edit anymore, explain yo'self!)
I dont edit too much anymore, but I do it to get passed with boredom. At one point I enjoyed it, but now I can't really bring myself to do anything. Although I'm currently working on what will be my best AMV.

Future goals: (Editing, non-editing, whatevers)
MAKE A LOT OF MONEY AND BUY AN ISLAND

How you got into AMVs: I ran into some sites on the old AMV Web Ring back in 1999 (stuff by aluminum studios, doki, etc.) and found the concept fascinating. It wasn't until I saw my first Contest at Anime Boston 2003 that I thought of actually involving myself in the hobby.
How you came up with your screen name: I don't remember the details. I was really into Frank Herbert's Dune in high school, but not terribly into Diablo - those are the parts of it though...
How you discovered the Org: myself and a friend came upon an old version of the site back in 2001 or so. That made it easier to find links to new videos. I didn't register an account until 2003 (which i don't think I ever logged onto, because I forgot the password in the 2-week wait period). I made this account in 2004 to upload the first piece of shit I cranked out... about 9 months after the fact.
Tell me about your studio, like how you joined/created it, etc... For he longest time I wasn't in a studio. Never felt a need to be. In 2010 or 2011 I was talking with the guys I do AMV 101 with (and who I normally send betas to) and despite them all having studios of their own, they paid lip service to creating something we called Shin-Ei Gumi. 2 of us have pretty much stopped editing to focus on other creative outlets and careers, and the other 3 always end up using their old studio names all the time anyways. I don't think we really exist except as a field for me to fill out on forms.
Favorite genre to edit and why:I used to really like Action (and I still do) because it's structured. You can clearly define quantitative goals for hitting beats. Lately I like Parodies for the same reason. You have a goal in mind that you want to strive to be like - it's called Track 1. You can be creative within a framework that gives you structure. I also like editing comedy because I enjoy the fuck out of entertaining people.
Favorite newbie mistake you've made: (Give us a good cringe-worthy one!) - Requesting that subtitled frames be counted as the allowed 25% non-anime footage in a contest so I could get a video past the DQ rules.
First contest experience: First contest I entered was Anime Boston 2004. I didn't get in, but back then just entering the contest gave you special seating at the contest and awards show, so it was worth entering. I actually made finals in 2005 there and in a handful of other contests.
Best experience you've had thus far with the community:Having the chance to run my own department / programming track at AAC.
Worst experience with the community: Learning the site administration could not be trusted with maintaining confidentiality and the lax enforcement of board rules over time.
Why you edit: At this point, it almost feels like it's out of a sense of obligation. I'm not sure to whom.
Future goals: (Editing, non-editing, whatevers) - I can't say I have any.

Hi all. It's been years. Just lurking here and found THIS THREAD! 0_0

How you got into AMVs:
Odorikuruu. There was a big hole of non-dance/fun anime music videos but this was a hole I wanted to fill. This amv got me going into the dancing amv editor I was once.

How you came up with your screen name:
Omni - Everywhere; Strata - Sky, Heaven, etc. It wasn't common either.

How you discovered the Org: Random clicking and I needed a place to find amvs.

Tell me about your studio, like how you joined/created it, etc... (If you're not in a studio, say why :P): Just made a name is all. Nothing more or less.

Favorite genre to edit and why:
Dance: Back then, it was rare and unique and just plain fun. Hard special effects made it a challenge.

Favorite newbie mistake you've made: (Give us a good cringe-worthy one!)
First four amvs. I made my cuts wayy too long.

First contest experience:
Forgot. Competed in the Dance division and won by default. [yay]

Best experience you've had thus far with the community:
When they took my little thread for anime screencaps and made it official. Good opinions with constructive criticism.

Worst experience with the community:
My mistake. I made a forum thread called Odorikuruu killer and have regretted it ever since.

Why you edit: (If you don't edit anymore, explain yo'self!)
T'was a fun past time. Made amvs nobody else wanted to make using anime and music nobody else used. Originality and fun fun dance was my flavor of the years. But now, it takes too much time what with a full time job and living alone in a big house. I've got lots to do.

Future goals: (Editing, non-editing, whatevers)
I'd like to retire early so that as a rich person, I'll have more free time. GET BACK TO EDITING WOOT! You young people easily outclass me in the effects/technical execution department now but I still like watching dem vids!

Nice to meet ya'llz again.
