Question! What is the difference between Fun and Upbeat? (Or Dance and Upbeat.) My entry may end up in one of those.

I honestly leave that for you to decide. The genre you pick is to help us understand what you were aiming for regarding the intent of your entry. If your video makes the finals, it will be categorized where it will be most competitive, and with vids most similar in "feel" to yours.Scintilla wrote:Question! We created a whole new methodology behind how we do category sorting precisely because the lines frequently blur on what defines a [insert genre name here]. This is our attempt at fixing some categorization headaches that Vlad and I ran into at both AX and SakuraCon last year. Vlad's trying one way at SC, I'm trying a different way.

The time limit for Trailers is hereby increased to 3 minutes, 30 seconds. In retrospect, 2min 30sec is too restricting. The reason I imposed that was because that's what the MPAA limit is for trailers, but I think it runs a danger of limiting creativity too much.

one of the trailers that I'm sending your way is exactly 3:30 LOL. Since that category is unlimited, I might also make 2 more to send inxstylus wrote:The time limit for Trailers is hereby increased to 3 minutes, 30 seconds. I actually referred to a certain trailer of yours as one of my key points regarding the time limit. No doubt the same 3:30 one of which you speak.kireblue wrote:one of the trailers that I'm sending your way is exactly 3:30 LOL. Actually, it was more a matter of your message prompting me to do a bit more research, and I discovered that the MPAA's limit isn't rigidly 2min 30sec. Studios are sometimes granted a waiver to exceed that restriction for up to one film a year (usually a studio's blockbuster of the year). That made me realize I was limiting things way too much.Tsu! wrote:I actually referred to a certain trailer of yours as one of my key points regarding the time limit.
