The Community's opinion on Metal/Hardcore Music
I want to use hardcore music in my Amv but I'm scared of what the Amv community will think of it
I've never seen any popular Amvs using hardcore music so I feel my work would get ignored/rejected by people(Amv community) because of the music choice.
Please give your opinions on the matter would really like to know

I don't speak for everybody here, but for me personally I don't mind the music itself - it's the vocals that kill it for me. I dislike grunge singing with a passion and I won't sit thru 20 seconds of it.
but again that's just me.

If it makes you happy or fulfills a creative urge, just do it. Don't worry about what others think too much. It's great for a video to be well-received by others, but ultimately you should make yourself happy.

There is a music discussion subforum for these kinds of threads.
That said, fuck the norm. Pretty much x2 to Tsui's post. Hip hop isn't a commonly used genre around here but it doesn't stop me and Reggie from churning out a bunch of hip hop amvs.

If your that concerned about pleasing the majority, then yes...hardcore vocals will be a turn off unless your video is extremely good, even then a lot of people will click away regardless.

If you have a concept that goes really well with metal music, go for it?
Agree with AceD, you will never be able to truly appeal to the majority and the most you can expect from them is an appreciation of what your video was trying to achieve, but by making at least one you will be able to tell whether this bothers you or not.
Personally i like metal and am currently making an AMV with a song by Secrets, no regrets so far
