@blaksun - Thanks for your comments. The point of the video I was trying to show some of the battles Fairy Tail faced in the beginning and then the guild getting sucked up into Edalos. Then the video jumps back to the beginning with Element 4 when the song kicks in and then 2/3 of the way through goes back to the point of Edalos and wraps up from there.

@Replay Studios - I know it's nothing fancy, but I like doing beat sync and lyrical sync editing. Not too much on doing effects. I'm looking to do more in my next video though.

I think if you did add more effects to this, it would be much worse. Just a lot of the little things made the video okish. For example, you have way too much fading. Also, you said you like doing beat sync and yet there's a lot of beats that you didn't hit, making the amv feel slow compared to the song. You also have some lip sync which I cant tell if you trying to time or not. Then for the song, my opinion of course, I think it would beeen better to trim the song down. Some of the lyrics doesn't fit with the anime too well and it distracts me :P
In the end, welcome back to the org and welcome back to the hobby ^^

@Replay - Thanks for the advice. I'll be taking more of a look at it. The bad thing is the project file got corrupted due to re-encoding the DVD's so I would have to start from scratch. I still had fun editing it.

There was only one scene in the video I wasn't trying to lipsync, but all the rest I did, just to let you know. I still have to find the balance. I like using lipsync to give the characters attitude and to deliver a message to their opponent before the final blow. It's been one of those areas where people like it or don't. The only lyrics that I don't think worked were let's get this thing shaking like a disco ball, however I interpret that as let's rock out and cause some havoc.

Like I've learned you can't please everyone, but still be open to ideas.

Thanks for the feedback again.

The intro was really well-done and got my attention.

A lot of clips fade out, which is fine, but quite often the clip ends just before the fade out is finished and suddenly turns a "soft" transition into a hard cut, which always bothers me when I see it in an AMV because I'm never confident that it's producing an effect that the editor actually desired. I believe that you can mix together fades with quick cuts but it has to be done in a very particular way to avoid this.

I don't know how I feel about the lip sync. I think that there are times, as an editor, when you see an opportunity for it and it seems to work great and you know that you haven't really been using it throughout the whole video but it just fits so well that you can't help it, you've gotta include it. I've done that before, myself, and I'll probably do it again, and if you can't resist doing it, then you've just gotta make a decision and try to make it work as best as you can. I thought that the lip sync was done well, but I don't know if it was a good idea or not.

The "quiet" part of the song that starts at 3:38 might have worked better if the action had let up for a moment but there was little break from the pace of the editing or the content of the clips that you were using there. When the guitar chords kick in at 4:01 and the chorus repeats for the last time, I think that should have been where you pulled out all the stops but instead the video just kind of flows into that without any major change to what's going on, visually. Overall, the AMV was short enough that I never grew tired of any of it but I think that it would have been served better if there had been a little more holding back in certain parts. Now then, maybe that would have turned this into the kind of action AMV that looks like everyone else's? Or not, I don't know. That's just my feelings about it.

I'm really into Fairy Tail these days and I enjoyed this video a lot.

@Seasons - Thanks for the feedback. I'm taking a lot of notes from this video and putting it into my next amv. Which is also action. More of an old school anime action AMV. I appreciate your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
