And here I thought AMV(&humor) would take Creators'.

What happens if the Judges, Creators AND Audience all have a different opinion?

Wait, are judges votes tallied from the voting ballots ahead of con? Or are they taken from the judges who are actually there?
Before con.

Again, Troy would probably have to elaborate on that.

My back-of-the-envelope calculations indicate there were probably 1000-5000 people in the room. So is a "tie" within 5 or 10 or 50 votes? (I'd love to know the exact difference in votes between "Piece of Toast" and "Animu Stew", but expect we don't get to know that detail =)
A tie is a tie. The issue with the Best in Show had to do with the creator vote, not the audience. Best of show at Anime Expo is decided based on the judge's, creator's, and audience's votes, each worth 33%. If one video gets the majority favorite of two of the three, they get BiS. The problem was, IIRC, the judges voted Piece of Toast, the audience voted AnimeStew, and the creators were tied for both (which brings up an interesting thought... if AMV hell-type videos are so hated by editors, why did they vote for it?). Instead of trying to figure out which one should win, it was decided that since they were both by the same editor, both should get the title. If the editors had voted, in majority, for PoT, it would've been the sole winner.

In theory, this system should prevent audience pandering videos from winning the top award if both the Judges and Creators vote similarly. However, I believe, in the case where the judges and creator votes are different, the audiences vote decides BiS.

When Troy is fully rested I'm sure he can elaborate more.
I find it hard to believe based on the creators I knew that were there that Stew managed to get half the creator votes. There must be large amount of others there that aren't part of the already somewhat big group I knew was there. Especially based on some of the reactions I'm seeing about Stew in this thread.

Looks like I was overruled quite a bit, then.

There are a lot of editors that aren't on the org that enter contests. Also, the creator vote is a lot smaller so it's easier to have it spread out among the entire finalist pool. The majority vote could, in theory, be 2 votes. Same could be said for the Judging vote as well (however, I think that might be handled a little differently based on how we rank each video).

Did creators get their own spot to sit in and turn in their ballots separately like in previous years?

Yes. Separate creator ballots (labeled as such) were given to them when they picked up their tickets.

Cool. I remember previous years, the ballots were all the same and creators had to turn theirs in separately. It was kinda funny how people who were non creators were confused and also walked up to Michael to turn in their ballots, kinda adding more to the creator votes.... :uhoh:

I have no idea how to reply to someone else response so I'll just copy and paste it T.T

"Upbeat/Dance - G6: Another awesome entry that really defines the category and would have literally swept the AMTV category at past AX's. This is one of those videos that is greatly enhanced by the effects and is something I feel the audience can enjoy without having to pander to them."

Thanks Castor Troy :D, Im glad you liked my AMV, I didn't go to the contest so I have no idea what reactions people had on my AMV but im happy you liked it, made my day :asd:
