I have 16gb hyperx ddr3-2133mhz and I've never eaten it all up, 64gb you would need many virtual machines running to even justify it.

Maybe you have but you've never just noticed it? As every system uses some element of your storage system for caching, even windows has a page file.
However, If you set up the software to stop using the HDD as data cache and force it to choose a RAMdisk, your application works soo much faster!!

Oops, forgot to add.. Using a RAMdisk for application cache reduces wear on SSDs.

The constant writing and erasing of caches and other temporary folders on your computer will wear out your SSD faster, so one way to get as much life out of your SSD as possible is to move these folders somewhere else. i.e use system available system ram.

Doesn't look like I've posted my rig since I moved last year. Not much has changed really. Same PC as before, though I added 6TB of space to my server (black system on the right) along with a hot swap bay and a new case (the monoprice PC case is pretty sweet, though doesn't look like they carry it anymore) but I got rid of the falling apart hutch. I'm looking into reconfiguring my bedroom/PC room and picking up a corner desk from IKEA (I think it's the Gallant style I'm looking at) to better spread out my monitors and give my 2 laser printers a place to sit besides on top of my dresser (patch cord on the right feeds the color printer.) I'll have to update when that happens. I'll be a sad day when I toss out that computer desk. I've had it near 20 years now...
