Innovator's in AMV Editing

Post by Gene Starwind 21122 » Fri Sep 19, 2014 9:17 pm

I was just watching some of Koop's AMV's from the time when I was editing Euphoria, Skittles, etc. That got me thinking, who is today's Koopiskeva. The timing and the way he used the effects in his videos were just amazing. His video also had a lot of feeling and meaning behind them. While Euphoria was flashy, a little too much for my taste, it still is an amazing video. If you can look at the scene selections they really work with the song. Skittles was just creative back then, it was unlike any upbeat AMV I had seen during that time.

Any editors today that come to mind that has the innovation like Koop did, istiv, Sierra Lorna, or Tyler_yj?

Why do we have to compare editors? More importantly, why do you have to have someone else's opinion on this?

Each editor has their own style and creative influences. To try and match someone to the likes of Koop or Tyler seems arrogant and elitist to me. Furthermore, everyone has their own tastes and preferences when it comes to other people's videos. You're not going to get a unanimous answer for what you are looking for here.

Instead of having other people tell you what editors are like ones you watched videos from back in the day, why not look around yourself? Find newer editors that make the kinds of videos you enjoy watching?

I'm just saying that these were some inspirational editors. Are there any that remind you of them today, and say that style looks some what familiar. I don't think I'll find another 80's romance editor like Dwchang. In my opinion these editors are Iconic and think they have had a huge influence on AMV's.

I'm trying to start some conversations.

I think becauseimbored1, has great editing with very little effects. In that sense reminds me of Sierra Lorna's earlier works.

I'd copy/paste the other years too but I'd rather not.
Those are who people voted for. They are what people consider to be good/innovative.

Beyond just linking to popular videos (mission accomplished) this will just be a giant "DEY ARE MY FERVERITE EDITER BCUZ I LIEK DER VIDEOZ." jerk off thread.

And yes, Koopiskeva is Koopiskeva. He's also known as Jay to some.

Listen I'm not here to argue. I was just trying to see who you guys thought are todays innovators compared to the editors that I grew up editing with.

This was not suppose to be blown out of proportion.

You said if I wanted to be more active, post more topics on the forums. I'm doing just that. I'm posting topics that I thought could be interesting to discuss. To discuss other editors and their techniques and what makes them innovative.

I get what you're trying to say, Gene. Koop has an impressive legacy that editors have tried to catch for years. You wanna know who's making a name for themselves now. :sorcerer: You never should wanna be the next anybody. You are you. Stand on your own feet. |:>

A few of my favorite editors as of late that always seem to impress me, both with technical skill and storytelling techniques are (who you stated above) becauseimbored1, GuntherAMVs, Shin and Vivifx.

And on a side note, I think editors acting all butt-hurt like this are the reason the forums are losing members. They're sick of having to walk on egg-shells. It's not worth it to them and I can't blame them.
