Wow. That's really sad. You shouldn't be buying things that the kids need.

Reminds me of the situation with my mom and my much younger siblings. She knew they needed school supplies or clothes or whatever, she'd spend her money elsewhere and I was hardly going to stand by and let them go without because of her. Then she learned that she could take advantage of me that way - and if I didn't pony up the dough, somehow /I/ was the bad guy.

I found out earlier this year that N2U in Ottawa was cancelled. I was hyped all year for the G Anime AMV contest and now it may be cancelled.

No conventions for me anytime soon :(

Thanks for the sympathy...

I hope it doesn't get that bad, though... but the last pay check went to application fees and gas (to get to work), next paycheck they say they want me to hold on to their money... We'll see..

But in the meantime I'm running my house pretty strict... everyone does chores, and even parents don't get more than 2 hours of TV time a day (on their weekends). But that to keep my electricity bill from exploding.

Spoiler :
first i transferred to this new school in favor of a major that my previous school didn't offer. with this transfer i lost about a semester+ of credits as not all of them transferred over. with that said, i failed a couple courses at my last school which i'd have to retake which ends up knocking me roughly a semester behind in addition to the credits i lost from the transfer. this school is a lot more demanding than my last, and i'm kind of scrambling to make the transition. out of the four classes i'm currently taking, there's already one course i'll have to retake for sure and possibly another (math......). with that i'm probably a ~year behind.

i'm so angry over how much money and time i'm wasting. i'd ideally like to take 15 credits next semester rather than the standard 12 just to make up for a tad of the slack, but i'm afraid that i won't have the time when i already barely have enough time for the four classes i'm taking now, which would just make the situation and stress even worse.

i'm also potentially (??) having a kind of major health problem that i have yet to tell my parents about which is constantly on my mind even though i put a lot of effort into ignoring it for now. with that there coincides other worries and troubles that i don't have the time to put thought into for the time being
basically school is stressful

OMG! That's horrible. My kids' money is their own, until they are old enough to be on their own and then it becomes rent and food

Made an appointment with my doctor since I've been having chest and breathing problems for the past month. All my symptoms look like they're pointing to panic attacks :(

Had some flu-like symptoms for the past couple days so I found myself reading a couple articles in some gaming magazines that Matt had lying around. One of them was on the new Metal Gear Solid game, the one with the mute female character that everyone got pissed off about.
To be honest, after reading about her I got kind of mad too. I got mad that people got so worked up about her "scantily clad"-ness without looking any further into it. This character sounds fucking awesome. She's basically a god damn chameleon (she can change her skin pigmentation to blend in with things), she can create clouds of mist to hide in, and she's a god damn brilliant sniper. I know that there is a problem with objectification of women in gaming but it makes total sense to get nekkid if you can blend in like you're made of magic by doing so. Sniper is a freaking incredibly fun class to play and if I could be god tier by stripping down to my undies, I'd do it in a heart beat. I know people were also upset that she's mute, but for me that just kind of adds to the awesome silent mystery assassin character. That and snipers aren't exactly supposed to be super talkative so making her mute is just kind of a way to make it over the top without going with that stupid cliche eye patch or some shit, so thank god from a small bit of creativity.

Thinking about all that just kind of got me really upset at this "react first, read about it later" craze that I've seen quite a bit lately. :/ People are way too willing to shake their heads and scream outrage before evening reading up to make sure the story is true or there isn't anything else beyond the blurb of an article they scanned through while seeking anger. Almost on a daily basis my coworkers would dive through news websites to find something to get upset about. There was even a day where I remember a group of people angrily discussing this "new fad of kids getting high by sticking weed up their butts". Yes, that. You know, the thing that was disproved like an hour later?
I know that this isn't exactly a new thing and has been happening since the dawn of time, but I guess thanks to social media (and the mistake of adding certain coworkers on Facebook) I see it quite a bit more often. Which is something I can really only blame myself for. I know I shouldn't listen to the small/dumb minority, but sometimes a quick rant does help me remember to try and stay above all of it. So yeah :P

But yeah, just something that made me upset and caused me to think about a lot of dumb things that stupid people talked about. >_> Also, very glad I work from home now so I don't have to deal with that shit as much.

Even my mind tangents D:
