Re: Anime Expo 2015 AMV Competition - NOW ACCEPTING ENTRIES!
yay! I cant wait to see the entries this year! I am working on a new amv for AX as well XD. Although I must ask since I am using a videogame for my vid, and some clips aren't' very high in quality. What quality is acceptable it comes to videogame footage? I can't get a higher res for 3ds footage

Video quality is a subjective thing, so it's kind of case-by-case. The universal no-no is if compression blocks are very clearly apparent. As for resolution, my knee-jerk reaction is to say that anything below 640x480 should be avoided, but there can be exceptions such as if a video game blockyness look is actually something you want (Ace Attorney, for example).neko kitkat wrote:yay! I have confidence that you have a good eye for determining what's usable. Evaluate it carefully and trust your judgement.

Aww thank you so much! I am flattered you think I am that good XD. I am not 100% sure on the footage so I will more than likely send a sample just to be sure. lol I don't trust my judgement XD Thank you so much!XStylus wrote:Video quality is a subjective thing, so it's kind of case-by-case. ALA is a much smaller convention, but we had our first AMV-Hell rule this year. Either no one had a problem with it, or the ones who did completely passed on us.XStylus wrote:Vlad had been expecting far more drama over the AMV-Hell rule, actually. Hardly anyone's even mentioned it.
Either way, all quiet on the western front.

I think I'll have my first entry for this year done tonight... we'll see since I still have to watch it after it finishes encoding, but I think, I think its about ready, so if not tonight by the end of the week at the latest I think.

No rush. It's not a race. Take the time you need to make sure it's just right, and don't upload it until you're 100% satisfied that it's as good as it can be.animefreak00007 wrote:I think I'll have my first entry for this year done tonight... we'll see since I still have to watch it after it finishes encoding, but I think, I think its about ready, so if not tonight by the end of the week at the latest I think.
Though on the other hand, uploading early means that you'll have more time to fix a problem if we encounter one with your entry, so... good on you for that.

I cover all possibilities so that I'm never wrong. Or at least only half wrong. Or maybe half right? Maybe I'm getting the whole idea wrong.Rider4Z wrote:You should really make up your mind, troy, and stop confusing everybody.
