But some people don't know that and they keep uploading the pitch-shifted videos.

Personally, I never ask anyone to take down a video of mine, but if they're claiming credit, I will post a comment. Usually something sarcastic about how it looks familiar or just a ಠ_ಠ or something. Generally, they figure it out quick and delete it on their own. If it has a lot of views, I just ask them to credit me properly, I don't ask them to delete it. Why should the viewers suffer? It's not like I'm magically going to get those views myself once they delete the video.

Yeah, I've been stolen too but last I checked that version had 2 views months later. When I check search analytics the people who are looking for mine find it.

Even regards to the common posters that take some of the videos from the org and post them, that's fine and all...but only one channel explicitly asked me first and THAT I appreciate. Since I tend to like to reply to comments it helps me keep track.

People claim my vids sometimes but what i find more annoying is when they use mine to edit their own lol. Bc it like ruins the intention of the vid. Recently found one from Amerutox that used all the altered scenes and transitions from my gurren lagann vid.

See this the kind of stealing I hate the most. Like why do you have to use someone else's amv to make your own? You could easily go out and download the anime yourself and make your own.

I feel like to me this is the ultimate sin of an editor is stealing someone else's work.

"Legal rights"?? LOL

Yea right. As if you can legally claim a video made up of someone elses art. He's obvioulsy not very educated on this topic if he really thinks he can legally claim an AMV. That also means that its not illegal for him to claim it as his own, because the video was never legally yours to begin with BUT that doesn't make him any less of an a$$hole for stealing someone's hard work

So uh, not sure where to start.

Hi Bored1, I've sent you a private msg on youtube 2 weeks ago but you never saw or didn't read it cause I didn't get any reply so I decided to look around abit and I found this thread, either way I hope you read this.

I will start off by saying that i'm really sorry, it was never my intention to insult you or your work, you are an amazing editor and I would never want to do that but I did and trust me i'm not proud of it. When I started making that AMV, I took those few scenes simply cause I couldn't edit that that good (and trust me I tried really hard) and they fit so well with the song, your AMV was kind of base/inspiration to start my own, at the time I though I was doing nothing wrong, just taking few scenes but I pretty much, well used your work and I feel like shit right now. I still put hours and hours into making of that AMV, I worked really hard on it but it doesn't change the fact that I used some of your work.

One thing I wish is that you msged me privately and not shame me publicly cause I'm sure would we would work something out, I was even ready to remove vid if was really bothering you too much but maybe i deserve it, maybe I should have asked for permission at the very least, I should have known better than this.

I think that's about it, just wanted to let you know that I'm sorry and if you want me to do something with the vid just send me a private msg here or on youtube.

Amerutox, I feel like the first step you should have taken was to acknowledge that you used her stuff in things like the youtube description :/ she might have not received your message (youtube inbox is like the bane of my existence D:) but even then, i think she's totally in the right to point out to others that you used her work. she doesn't need to "work something out" with you because you're the one who did something wrong. she has no obligation to be merciful. as it stands right now, your youtube upload description makes no mention of taking parts from her vid and it looks like either you or her deleted the comment she made about you using her video.

the best thing you can do is just admit you've done wrong, do your best to make it right by giving her credit, and move on :/

Oh, i'm definitely the one that's in the wrong here, I'm not here to play a victim. I just wanted to let her know I meant no harm and I will gladly add credits in description if that's what she wants.
