I can't see where the interlacing happened, though.
I ripped the video directly from DVD.
*sigh*
What is the optimal format after VOB to get rid of interlacing?
I tried Xvid AVI for round 2 and obviously that didn't work s well.
In round 3 it was to NTSC DVD mpeg2.
When you rip directly from the DVD it's going to be interlaced and it needs to be cleaned. A bit of cropping/resizing is usually required too.
It's not about what you're converting it to, per say, but about your AVISynth filtering to clean up the mess.
Spoiler :
This is yours. See how the lines on her face, blanket, and the scene in general look jagged? That's interlacing at work.

I didn't have a ton of time to play with it so I just threw on some filters for a different source I had worked with, but here is the exact same scene after I threw a couple filters on it to clean up interlacing, resize it to 640x480, and crop the sides a tad.. (I know I can get it to look better, just no time to experiment x_x)

But as for WHAT to encode it to, I prefer to edit with uncompressed AVI, either Lagarith or utvideo and then for my final encode mp4. :P

Deïnterlacing is also explained in this here guide: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech31/ , the method described there worked well for me when I used it.
