As much as I'd love to donate now I simply can't. :(
I can absolutely relate to this! When I started the Org, I was single with a day job and nothing to do all night. Now I have a wife and 2 kids and a cat and a house and 2 cars and a yard to mow and commute and so on and so forth. Those are the reasons I haven't been around recently. I just made sure the bills were paid here and let others do everything else. Now that my kids are old enough to require less constant supervision, I now have a little time to do more here than pop in once a year to update the Anime Detour playlists. :-)

Just like I tell everyone else, if you can donate even $20, that is way more than lurkers donate. Every dollar counts! ^_^

While I'm currently poor as all hell, I'll do my best to donate at least $1 for every video listed on my profile....

EDIT: Any chance of us getting a Gofundme/Kickstarter-esque progress bar that keeps updating? The kids like the pictures with the bright colors and such.

You got it! I am here twice a day. It heartens me to see a great investment in the Org's future.

That's the spirit! If everyone donated $1 for every video they hosted here, we wouldn't need another fund raiser for the next 10 years!! :-D

I actually believe that doing this would ensure that the goal is met. A lot of editors are very active on social media sites and have the ability to reach a significantly greater number of people than if it was the org doing it. Although I feel that the general purpose of Gofundme fits in better with the goal of this project, I think that Kickstarter offers a few features that would make it easier for us to reach this goal. Kickstarter allows you to offer "prizes" for different tiers of donations, and I feel that this could be a great motivator. You already mentioned that a donation of 1,000 or more would get you a hard drive with the org's archive, but you could add additional prizes as well. For example: Donating $15 or more could get you some kind of exclusive Org merchandise (like a keychain or something). I'm sure that it would be easy for you to find someone to design something cool for that purpose ( Chiikaboom immediately comes to mind). Donating $50 or more could allow you to have you user named displayed in specific color (in the same way that the admin and moderators have their names in a specific color).

But back to the point: I'm sure that if we made a kickstarter, we'd get countless donations from people that may not even have a org account but is a fan of the user that shared it on their twitter, facebook, etc.

^Not bad ideas. Something simpler that already at hand: How about buying out with choice of your vid for some$ amv spotlight place for x amount of time? Rarely pops up there something fresh anyway .
Still better than that MMO.

I actually like the idea of little bonuses for donating. Physical merch could be a bit of a pain but fun little things like colors are easy to do and could be pretty cool.
(Obviously I make decisions for no one but I'm happy to support in any way that I can. This is something I've wanted to see for a very, very, very long time.)

Hosting the fund raiser on a specific website like Gofundme or Kickstarter would more than likely raise more legal issues that anything else, but it wouldn't hurt to at least mimic it. GoFundAMV :awesome:

That's a pretty interesting idea. It would be pretty much the same as buying a facebook ad. You could pay X amount of dollars to have your vid show up in the AMV spotlight on a specific day. I think that it would be necessary to apply a few rules though. For example: You can only purchase this feature X amount of times a year, and you can not purchase it for a specific video more than once.
