Re: AnimeNEXT 2015 AMV Contest (Finalists Posted!)
That's what the judges ended up selecting -- I should remind everyone that our prescreening is done with no regard to categorization. We had a lot of good upbeat videos this year, plus there were enough character profile videos making the cut that I felt they should have their own category (without that, Drama would indeed have had more than the others).LC_Lapen wrote:I'm really, really glad that my video got into the finals. Which is why it feels like I'm shooting myself in the foot here but I've gotta ask; is the Upbeat category supposed to have that many slots? I'd usually expect either Action or Drama to have a slight excess over the others. Not trying to stir any pots, just had a curious itch to scratch.

That looks pretty good. What do you get them cast in ultimately?

I honestly have no idea -- I've always just left it up to the staffer who makes them and not asked questions, but I think she mentioned some kind of resin??BasharOfTheAges wrote:That looks pretty good. What do you get them cast in ultimately?

Overflow/Showcase info
Okay, here is what everyone needs to know about the non-finalist screening (on the PDF schedule as "AMV Showcase"):
1) Instead of having separate Friday and Saturday blocks like in previous years, the overflow this year will be one big block on Sunday, on the DoubleTree closed circuit (channel 39) and in the closed circuit simulcast video room.
2) We got a LOT of videos this year. To fit them all, our overflow block is 4.5 hours long, running from approximately 9:45 to 2:15 on Sunday.
3) Every video will be shown once, in alphabetical order by video title (and yes, there are two different videos both called "Evolution"). Here is the schedule, as best I can derive it (spoilered because it's 80 videos long!).
IMPORTANT: Because of the nature of the closed circuit, the playlist must be set in advance, and it runs continuously without intervention; therefore these times are only approximations. I suggest arriving a few minutes early for any given video if you want to make sure to catch it! The staff will NOT be able to repeat any video.

Info for everything else
And here is the rest of the vital information for all of our other events:
FRIDAY
Contest screening: 8:00 - 10:00 P.M. in Main Events B (double ballroom in the DoubleTree, seats ~500, same as past few years)
SATURDAY
Contest screening: 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. in Main Events B (same)
Ballots must be turned in by 3:00 P.M. at the Info Desk (if you did not submit them on your way out of the ballroom)
Winners will be announced and shown at the Masquerade halftime -- NOT before the skits begin as in past years! I have been informed that we have a strict 30-minute time limit on the winners, so depending on what wins, I may not be able to show the Coordinator's Choice.
SUNDAY
AMV Sing-along!: 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. in Panel 3 (Bridgewater room in the DoubleTree, seats ~100). Yes, this is happening. Let's make it loud.
