I'll get a more comprehensive review for all the videos later, but after watching them all I gotta say this feels like the strongest batch of videos I've seen in Pro since I've been participating. God damn guys, good job.

I concur. It's like everyone sent their Masters videos to Pro. I can't wait to see what is waiting for me in Masters. So happy I don't have to judge this contest... y'all have your work cut out for you.Shin-AMV wrote:I'll get a more comprehensive review for all the videos later, but after watching them all I gotta say this feels like the strongest batch of videos I've seen in Pro since I've been participating. Re: The AWA 2015 Professional Awards Video Review Thread
I have had a number of requests for "Best Non-Anime" instead of "Best Live Action". I must admit, I've never understood this request. Either something is animated (anime) or it's live action. I'm not sure what would be not-anime and not-live-action? American sources? Sorry, anime = "animation" not "Japan". Machinima? Sorry, computer generated = animated = anime.
Not approving this request unless I get a better justification.

Important:
Now that we have Dropbox, Google Drive and Mediafire going... is anyone still having difficulty getting a copy of all the videos?

I have to say I find the fact you are not allowing a category be an option just because you personally do not agree with the reasoning for it kind of upsetting. The point of pro is for the editors to decide the category so if there are a lot of people suggesting it, I am having a hard time understanding why you don't make it an option and then allowing the participants to decide from there. The choice should primarily be the editors not the coordinator as that is sort of the whole point of pro.jingoro wrote:I have had a number of requests for "Best Non-Anime" instead of "Best Live Action". I have /always/ approved the categories. This is not new. I have /always/ rejected this category for being redundant with Best Live Action. It is also derogatory, saying, in so many words, we're only interested in anime here, but your video was good so here's a token prize. That has never been the case for The Video Art Track. I don't award derogatory categories. Rephrase this as a positive "Best [something]" instead of "Best [not-something]" and I'll consider this.Xophilarus wrote:I have to say I find the fact you are not allowing a category be an option just because you personally do not agree with the reasoning for it kind of upsetting. I understand not wanting a negation in an award title. Does that mean I should propose a "Best International" category and hope people know what I mean?
