Just Funkin' Dandy - (AWA Pro Best in Show)
I started this video way back in March and worked on it fairly casually until about 2 months until the AWA Pro deadline where I started to spend serious time and effort to get it done in time.
When I heard Uptown Funk I wanted to edit to it and Space Dandy seemed like a pretty good match. Space Dandy reminds me of retro sci fi comics and I wanted to go with that as the theme.
AWA Pro was really strong this year and the upbeat category was stacked. Mycathatesyou's Food Wars AMV was fantabulous and Ileia's Last Airbender vid was super awesome and got me to watch the show. I recommend you all search up those vids cause I feel they were equally deserving of an award.

In all honesty I love the combo of this. The editing is truly amazing and I feel it grabs the spirit of the show. I love this video with all my heart. Great job Shin!

Re: Just Funkin' Dandy - (AWA Pro Best in Show)
I'll be honest -- most of your stuff is really hit-or-miss with me, not a lot of grey area, however I love this. I haven't seen Space Dandy but this is a video where you seem to have captured it perfectly -- or did a really good job of pretending you did. In any case the effects work was great, the masked transitions (which I tend to really hate) were actually super appropriate in this video, and were used very well, and all the scene selection and pacing was excellent. The only thing that surprised me was the complete lack almost complete lack of text bubbles throughout the comic book panels...I think putting some in would have really solidified the aesthetic.
Other than that minor complaint, this is a wonderful video and one of the high points from the Pro contest this year. Excellent job
(P.S. is this the only video you entered in Pro? I would have put a large sum of money down along with many prized possessions that #352 was yours.)
Edited, thanks Xophilarus.

I didn't notice that. I did however notice that each time a panel was static/unmoving it had the stylistic print dots over the image.CrackTheSky wrote:The only thing that surprised me was the complete lack of text bubbles throughout the comic book panels...I think putting some in would have really solidified the aesthetic.
