I have not read this thread, so I am not sure this has been mentioned... but the one time I chose to watch the Sailor Moon S dub to see if any improvement had been made over the older dub jobs (It's, in many ways, worse by the way...) I saw an episode where Michiru, I kid you know, says "Girl, that's whack!"
I wanted to commit suicide right then and there.

I for one would be willing to buy the Sailormoon DVD's if they were done right, but this is getting a bit off topic.
I just watched the first three episodes of Pretty Sammy yesterday and the first episode had funny lines throughout, but I most laughed at Kione's reaction to Ryoko leaving I think Tenchi's room dressed in pajamas, but definitely she was sleepy, and Kione puts two and two together even though nothing has happened she starts saying what probably happened and has to be careful with her words because Sasami and Misoa (is that how it is) are there. I really don't remember the exacts words, but it was quite well voice acted in English (don't worry I'll go back and see the Japanese too, but I like the Tenchi English voice actors their great! so there 8) )
Anyways that's that.

Do you mean when she reached in tenchi's pants and said, "Lets shake the dew off this lily". That was funny as hell.LittleKefalos wrote:In the Tenchi OVA, I think episode 7, but it might be 8. Washu has tenchi in her lab, what she says in English is funny, but read the sub..... oh my gosh me and my two friends were laughing for a long time after this one, though I must say it was a bit vulgar, but that's Washu for you.

The second funniest thing I've ever heard in anime was from a really bad fansub of one of the Kenshin OVAs. The translation brought back good old memories of SNK's glory days, lol. At one point Saitoh says something to the effect of, "You call yourself bat? Should not humiliate bat!!".
Probably the funniest thing I've ever heard a character say in anime was something Guts from Berserk said later in the series:
SPOILER FOLLOWING
It was at the party when Griffith was first admitted to the upper class and everyone from the Band of the Hawk was all dressed up. At one point Caska (who is wearing a dress, possibly for the first time ever) stalks over and grabs Guts' hand to drag him away so she can talk to him. Guts blurts out, "Wait!! Who are you?!?". Heh, it's probably not that funny just reading it but at the time I almost died laughing.

The Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon SuperS DVD have Japanese with subtitles, which is very good. Don't bother with the first two seasons until ADV releases the box sets, though... the current seasons 1 and 2 DVDs are dub only, thus not worth it.LittleKefalos wrote:I for one would be willing to buy the Sailormoon DVD's if they were done right, but this is getting a bit off topic.

As for Pretty Sammy, what you watched was the OVA. There's only the three episodes, and that's it. After seeing that, you should move on and watch the Pretty Sammy TV series, which is 26 episodes long. It's called Magical Project S here in America, is available on DVD in 2 fairly inexpensive collection boxes, and is subtitled only (They did not expect it to sell well enough to make dubbing it worth the money.) Also, there's a Pretty Sammy movie called "Magical Girls and Boys", but it has not come out in America ever... But I guess if the MPS DVDs do well enough, they might bring it over.. who knows.
Sorry for being completely off topic, but I felt I had to respond to those two items
