Problems with Windows Movie Maker
Ok technically speaking I'm not a total newb, I've had WMM for about a year now and I've completed two videos. But recently its just becoming rediculous. Every time I tell it to perform and action it takes forever, whenever I try doing anything else on my computer when wmm is running it seems to slow the whole computer down, and I keep getting a pop up that says my virtual memory is too low. Is anyone else using this program experiencing the same difficulties? Any advice?

Couple of potential answers...
Whenever we get a user that is experiencing slow system performance, we always run ad-aware on it first. You see, pretty much anything that you download for "free" from the internet (most filesharing apps) come with little applications that monitor what you do, and/or turn your CPU's idle cycles for their own advertising benefits. Ad-aware will remove said components (run in safe mode!) and is freely available from www.lavasoftusa.com
Your HD might also be starting to fill up. For optimal HD performance, you need at least 10% free on every partition. This includes virtual memory/swap space. So do a little math and see what you've got free. It might be time to back some stuff up to CDR.
Generic windows crapout. I'm guessing you're running a win9x build (98/ME). When was your last reinstall? You may want to consider reinstalling windows. I know, it's a lot of work to set everything back up again (sh*t, I do it every 2 months) but sometimes it's really worth it.
Virus scanners. Realtime virus scanners kill performance because they check files as their created. With video editing, that's like, ALWAYS because it has to build temporary files to play to the screen. If you recently installed a virus scanner, disable it. This was my problem a while ago and I was tearing my hair out trying to find out what it was.
