Re: Obligatory, annual, elitist AWA 2016 Pro AMV review!
To fix the problem we all need to be better. I was amazed that my video wasn't the worst and that says a lot about the contest in general. Sure I iron cheffed my video, and it should not have been entered, but if that's the case most videos shouldn't have been entered on quality alone. I may be being hypocritical about it, but at least I can see that pro has been turning into a contest that consistently has lower quality videos than other contests. Sure some people blame bias voting or non blind judging or even viewing parties, but is that really the issue?
I'd like to hear people disagree because I hope I'm wrong. I love pro, but it feels less and less professional every year, I'd hate to see it go away.

I'd like folks to stop whining about the quality of the entries. Some were good, some were bad, some were fantastic. If you want higher quality entries then step up and make them.

Every year the same comments are brought up. Every. Year... (I've also been guilty)Rider4Z wrote:I'd like folks to stop whining about the quality of the entries. Some were good, some were bad, some were fantastic. If you want higher quality entries then step up and make them.

This. Also, I think people are WAAAAY exaggerating Pro's "weakness" level this year... It was definitely quite a bit worse than last year, but last year was pretty amazing. The average of the quality of the videos though are at least on par, if not better, than the first two years I entered pro. The only difference is, there aren't really many amazing videos. The best videos in this contest aren't as good as the best in previous. When you look at the quality as a whole though, it has not taken some dramatic dip or anything xD. I know a lot of people did make last minute entries this year, and yeah, I would like to see the contest be a lot stronger obviously, and I do think more people should put their butt in gear to make it as strong as it can be, but Jesus Christ guys, it really isn't as bad as you all are making it sound. And also, yeah, like others have said, stop crying about it, and put more effort into your entries as well. I apologize for the little rant, but I had to say something on the subject xP When I believe people are being too pessimistic, there's some issue going on because I am about as jaded and amused by anything as you can get.Rider4Z wrote:I'd like folks to stop whining about the quality of the entries. but... but we're all editors here and being salty and complaining is what we do best. Taking that away from us is like taking our very existence.
