Guidelines for Main Categories
  • You may enter up to 3 main category entries per creator or group.
  • Duration must be at least 75 seconds and cannot exceed 6 minutes.
  • You may enter multiple entries into the same category.
    • Only 1 entry per category will be eligible to advance to the finals. A creator or group can have a finalist in multiple categories, however.
  • The majority of your entry's audio content must be primarily music.
  • Entries must be free of all titles and credits. A uniform title and credit slate will accompany all entries shown.
  • Entries must be free of excess or unnecessary subtitles or spoken dialog.
  • "AMV Hell" styled clip-show entries will not be accepted into the competition.
Guidelines for Bonus Categories (Trailer / TV Intro / Commercial Parodies)
  • You may enter up to 5 bonus entries per creator or group.
    • These entries do not count against your main categories maximum.
  • Duration limits are as follows:
    • Trailer: 1 minute minimum, 3 minutes & 30 seconds maximum
    • TV Intro: 30 second minimum, 1 minute & 30 seconds maximum
    • Commercial: No minimum, 1 minute maximum
Additional Guidelines for All Categories
  • The majority of your entry's video content must consist of anime-styled or manga-styled sources. Consideration will be given to other sources that fit within the spirit of this event.
  • This is a PG-13 / TV-14 event. Excessive violence, coarse language, adult situations or innuendo may lead to disqualification.
  • Entries must be free of any corner watermark logos or other trademarks.

    • Bonus category entries are exempt from this rule.

    • Squashed/stretched aspect ratios
    • Chunky/blocky video (often caused by low quality source or excessive data compression)
    • Extreme Banding (i.e. Color gradients caused by video re-compression)
  • The following audio technical flaws may be subject to disqualification depending on severity:
    • Audible distortion
    • Levels that are too high, overdriven, or clipped
    • Audible discontinuities caused by flawed audio edits
    • Pitch-shifted or speed-adjusted audio (unless by obvious artistic necessity)

Rejection

Entries may be rejected for any reason listed in these rules or for any reason not foreseen by these rules as deemed by the coordinator or staff volunteers. Rejected entries may not be resubmitted. A rejection may result in a temporary or permanent ban from this competition depending upon severity.

Your entry may be rejected for the following reasons (subject to change, not limited to...):
  • Plagiarism
You may not submit another AMV creator's work as your own. You may not use another AMV creator's work, even partially, without their explicit permission. just as a question, would you guys be accepting to an AMV that is 15 minutes long? I'm currently working on an AMV using a song that is 15 minutes and 41 seconds long, and a lot of contests have a maximum of 6 minutes for the length.
