Adobe After Effects/Premier Editing Mentor

Post by knage » Wed Dec 28, 2016 4:32 am

Hey AMV Community,

I'm making the switch to learn how to use Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro in my editing rather than Sony Vegas. I want to make more creative edits to widen my horizons.
Basically, I need help for that as it's not easy trying to learn how to do the same things Sony Vegas could much less new things. If there is anyone out there who is good with After Effects and wouldn't mind helping me edit my new AMV then please PM me of reply on this comment page. We can exchange Skype and I hope to talk to you soon!

Below is an AMV of mine to show you how I edit
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGnvE8MhU1k

Anyway thanks for whoever clicks on this link and takes the time, I really would love the help as I do want to get this AMV out!

Personally, for amv's, I find the Vegas is more intuitive and easier to use then premiere. On top of that, almost anything you can do in premiere you can do in vegas. Anything I can't do, I simply do it in after effects and export the AVI over to vegas. Just know, you don't edit an entire AMV in after effects, (but you might already know that) Also, creating plugin chains on vegas to me is easier to do and paste over to the next clip than it is on premiere. If you're looking for speed and efficiency, I'd stick with vegas and download some newblue plugins. Newblue+BCC+Trapcode plugins are heaven. If you're looking to use twixtor and other stuff like that, than you really want to use after effects for those. I own all of the above, and with experience in all 3, I still prefer vegas. You can always try to expand your current horizons before moving onto an additional software, it's like getting a new lens for a camera so to speak, rather than a new camera itself. Either way, I can give you tips and advice for after effects. If you don't know the power of Rotobrushing and Masking (you can mask in vegas too) than boy, sit down and let's have a talk :)

Interesting that I magically think to check this site again the day after you replied. Yea I know you can't use only after effects, I've tried checking other information and found that out. Definetely if I only wanted to use Premiere I wouldn't even bother as Vegas has become easy for me to use compared to anything else. I have Newblue and had BBC at one point I just seen that there is some thing AE can do that Vegas can't, I've seen the Rotobrushing and masking I think so generally I know those, probably not as well as you.
I forget if I'd mentioned but I had piece together the whole AMV and tried editing the first part but for the some reason the effects on one of the scene bars change when the order changes, so like in a Vegas timeline if one scene was above the other it wouldn't do any different for a light change but for AE there is some difference.

Eh you can use only after effects and it's the best thing to do if you edit compositing heavy projects.

Can you go into more detail? Also, how is your skill set with AE?
