Just read the FAQs and you should be fine. This, of course, isn't advisable to use if you access the internet with a standard dial-up modem.

Go to www.download.com and search for the initials "FTP" on their site. They will bring up about twenty or so FTP programs that will allow you to create your own FTP server. Personally I recomend "Bullet FTP" it's the simpelest to use. I've used the system before so if you have anymore questions abot them feel free to ask.
Just in case you don't know: FTP is basically an access to files on your computer from the internet. The files themselves do not go on the internet and people will be downloading them directly off your hard drive. The FTP program will allow you to give them access to specific folders you choose and they require a password from the user if they care to download from them. The only dissadvantage is the fact that your computer needs to be on and it can slow down your internet speed while someone is downloading.

Re: Web Hosting
No matter how you slice it, in the end you get what you pay for...I have my own Caldera Linux box with Apache server all set up...Only prob is I only have a 56k. I've heard that even DSL can be pretty slow for those sudden but short lived peaks in demand. Your definitely going to have to do some staggering of the videos...releasing them all at once will definitely stunt the amount of downloads your going to get. Not only that, but people with high bandwidth tend to get cranky when they have to download at anything below 150 KB/sec. cranky spoiled people tend to go out of their way to leave neg. reviews.Maximo wrote: I've been looking for a place to put my AMV's at, what are the easiest and best places for me to go? Ive got about 7 Vids so i need somewhere with alot of space.
