Unrecognized Exceptions!!

Post by slickwilly102 » Mon Jan 06, 2003 4:33 pm

I have been trying to get the hang of AVI Synth for the past couple of days. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Yes I have Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides multiple times. I dont know how to take teh DVD2AVI footage and turn into AVS that my computer can recognize.

Here is what I have been doing->
LoadPlugin("C:\AVSFilters/mpeg2dec.dll")
MPEG2Source("C:\Eva2.d2v")

All I ever get is an unrecognized excetption. It reads "Unrecognized Exception! C:\Documents and Settings\Desktop\eva2.avs, line 2"

This sucks, I cant use the raw AVI files on my computer because they are too big. If anyone can help me that would be great.

Also I cant seem to open any other avs files either. Such as the colorbars in the example scripts. I have tried both VitrualDub and Media Player. Yes I do have the AMVapp and have tried unistalling and reinstalling. If anybody has any ideas I would be grateful.

Well, there's your problem. Never, EVER use a forward-slash when you want a DOS/Win path, always use a back-slash.
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

I have the same problem. Heres what my avs file says:

MPEG2SOURCE("C:\Voodoo\New Folder\1.d2v")

I get the same error. I'll never be able to work with video again til this is fixed, and I havent been able to fix it for months. I tried formatting and everything. It worked a long time ago somehow...And yes I tried telling it to load the plugin as well and that doesnt work. Damn this amvapp!

Common solutions to "Unrecognized Exceptions".

Recreate the D2V file.
Try a different version of DVD2AVI, such as 1.86.
Re-install the AMVApp Pack.

Sometimes just launching DVD2AVI and closing it back down seems to work :\

A puzzler indeed.

I have had the same problem, here's what to do:

1.) loose the "LoadPlugin" Line 1. It tends to fuck EVERYTHING up.
2.) Recreate you .d2v files. Making extra sure that they are in YUV! RGB just isn't happy today and will once again fuck everything up.
3.) Try restarting and loading said file back in DVD2AVI. If it works: YEAH!!! Now your on to premire. If not: Time to start all over. Try resinastlling DVD2AVI. Besure it's 1.86! Anything less is just moody.
