Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Feedback for my first AMV

Post by OKofficial55 » Thu Aug 03, 2017 11:11 am

So I have been a fan of amvs for a long time now and finally decided to go ahead and make one, I had limited editing resources (movie maker) but I managed to come through and finished up rather quickly. I did this without a lot of knowledge when it comes to making amvs and would like some feedback to see how I can improve, basically constructive criticism
Heres my amv
Posted it on my new channel

Welcome to the Org! The rules of announcing videos in the "AMV Announcement forum" require you to catalog your video first. So please do that as soon as possible :D . If you don't know how, here is the FAQ post about it http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/v ... 2#p1546652

Until then, I'm going to move your thread to the “Awaiting Catalog Entry” forum. And I can move it back once I see that you've done it.

So the song I used was Rockabye and it cannot fill out the info in the music section because Clean Bandit does not show up as an artist.

If you don't see the artist, there is a option to "add new artist". You can also add new songs to the database as well

Hmmm, no-one else has responded and I have been off this site for so long I cannot remember when I was last on! Soooooo much work!!! So I figure I should give back.

Anyway, I was impressed! Seriously. You have a keen eye, good timing and a grasp of ‘feelz.’ Credit to ya!

Also, FAR MORE than I would have expected with Movie maker!!

Although... I dropped Windows years ago and am 100% Mint Linux - and not regretting it. So I do not know how Movie maker goes these days. Back in the day it was a single track, no real effects toy. It seems to deliver a lot more now… though is it the free edition or the more professional pay rendering? *Cough* I go with the ALL FREE Kdenlive under Linux which is just looooovveeeellllllllyyyy and now seriously powerful!

Anyway, technology aside, I was genuinely impressed. Nice matching with the music and a sense of feeling. And I HATE soccer!!!

In a way it is only nit picks from me. Some of the wipes/dissolves suggested switching to a scene by a frame or two - a common problem when editing and I had agony getting rid of a couple in my latest - which causes flickering. (The best route around this I find is to slow the end of the scene and wipe. Of course, I am assuming Movie maker can do speed changes but your video suggested you could.) A little bit of lip flapping which, given we are, er, ‘borrowing’ from other material is always an issue. Finally, there were a couple of places where the top of the subtitles where visible. You needed to zoom in a little more.

But, other than that, good! You should keep this up and make us smile!

...and they said it couldn't be done!!!
