One thing that needs to be mentioned: anti-troll rules this year when it comes to the regular categories (not sure about the bonus ones) is going to be like Otakon's (i.e. it must not have won an award before the deadline). So, you may want to be careful when choosing what to submit.Castor Troy wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2019 6:39 pmJune 3rd deadline: go go go go

but if it was a finalist at a previous AX show and it never won any awards (or if it was a bonus category video whether it won awards or not) it's totallly okayTnAdct1 wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2019 7:04 pmOne thing that needs to be mentioned: anti-troll rules this year when it comes to the regular categories (not sure about the bonus ones) is going to be like Otakon's (i.e. it must not have won an award before the deadline). Re: Anime Expo AMV - Farewell & thanks for the memories
Finalists have been announced.
1. Yeah, more than likely, I misspelled my video on the entry form (it should be spelled Demon, not Demo).
2. Kinda surprising that there's only two comedy finalists this year.
3. So, which "Letting Go" video is the one that made the finals?
My main comments on the finalists:Anime Expo wrote:Greetings everyone!

Sakura-Con had only 3 comedy finalists this year. I feel it may be becoming a lost art.TnAdct1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 7:09 pmMy main comments on the finalists:

Well they couldn't have won an award in any previous contest so that made it worse as well.

Re: Anime Expo AMV - Farewell & thanks for the memories
In terms of the lack of comedy videos at AX this year, I do feel a lot of factors did come into play. Among them (with my personal experience explaining some of them):
1. The aforementioned idea of AX using the Otakon model of trying to avoid videos that have already won in other contests (this is one reason why I tend to hold off videos until June if I want to submit them to contests, as I want to ensure that it's safe for Otakon eligibility).
2. Some "comedy" videos may feel more like videos that would fit into the Fun/Play category and be moved to that category (this has happened to me in the past, although this year, I submitted my entry into the Fun/Play category due to said experience and how the character profile aspect of my entry does result in some sentimental moments).
3. I'm not sure how many editors opted to skip AX this year in protest to the change of management and are instead saving up their comedy videos for other cons (i.e. Japan Expo, Otakon).

Extremely hyped right now. "Innocence - The Final Adventure" is my AMV. Got the email in class today and freaked out, i'm in 10th grade so school still is a thing but whoever was the judges were thank you for believing in me and i hope you enjoyed the music video. It's dedicated to you, the person watching. So basically... THANKS!
