I really want to get better at editing/ creating AMV's. This is not my first, but I see that Youtube is definitely not the place for feedback. I was limited by my laptops capabilities(no effects), but if I can at least get some feedback on what I've got I'd really appreciate it. I'm glad I found this site.

-Play around with some transitions other than fades. Might help in giving this video a little more pizzazz.
-Be careful with video speeds. There were a handful of clips here and there where speeding it up make it look goofy and slowing it down made the frame rate distracting.
-Good job on this! You had a handful of interesting editing moments here and there that I really liked.

Interesting AMV. I haven't seen this anime so perhaps some of your intent was lost on me, but overall I thought you did a pretty good job establishing the characters and their story and following through until the end.

I felt, however, you relied a bit too much on cross-fades and feel simple cuts would have worked fine instead for some of the uses. Particularly when scenes are short back to back.

Overall the AMV reminded me of official music videos that don't really focus on trying to sync to the beat or lyrics constantly, but try to tell a story instead. Not sure if that was your intention or not but how it came across.

Overall, this was pretty well sync'ed. Good use of placing cuts where they have the most impact.

The transition from the fantastic action to the still screen at 1:04 and back again felt kind of abrupt and felt like hitting a bump when everything was flowing pretty smoothly. I get the impression this was not a random cut but a shot that has a good deal of meaning behind it, but having not seen this anime that never really registered for me.

The cut at 2:53 from a closeup of the main character to a different closeup of the main character kind of felt like a jarring jump cut. The timing was fine but it sometimes looks weird if you cut from one shot of Character A to a different shot of Character A in the same scene, at first looking stoic and then suddenly panting without any obvious cause of this change or cut to something else in between. This can work in some situations but often times it doesn't, just my opinion though.

Maybe just a little more lip flap here than I usually care for, it didn't distract me too much, however.

I don't want to make it seem like I'm being really hard on you here, I think this is a pretty solid video, definitely a big and ambitious-feeling AMV that goes all in on telling a story and focusing on characters in a way that's really hard to do for a full four minutes. I was never bored during this and felt pretty engaged during the whole thing. I hope you continue to edit and share your work here and elsewhere. Looking forward to seeing more to come.

Thank you SO MUCH for these specific tips. I did worry about one of these sections after I made it, so hearing this really helps me learn. It's hard to see things objectively, so this kind of feedback really helps!

I had to do a bit of a doubletake because I was like, "Wait, Banana Fish? Isn't that a 90s series??? Why does it look so good? Is it a remake?" ...Google-sensei explains all. The manga, which I remember, ran from 85-94. Although the anime is new.

As to the video, I actually think it works out well given the vintage of the source. It feels like an old school video. Others mentioned above that they would have preferred you to use more dynamic transition effects, but I disagree. This is a 90s story source and I don't think it was necessary at all to veer from cuts and fades. Keeping it simple makes the most sense to me.

That said, I do agree there were some sloppy cuts which went against the internal sync (the natural movement of the animation) and felt abrupt and jarring. I also think you had a bit too much lip flap (when someone is talking but it isn't lip synced to the song or isn't a action in of itself like a scream on a loud, long tone).
