AMV "Show"? Is this a contest or exhibition? I thought I had entered the showdown. Or do you guys take your pile of entries and sort them into the various contests yourselves?
I am very confused by how this works.

Speaking of which, will the updates for the Saturday Morning show be posted right after the event or on Sunday?
Silent. Heroic. But never both.

Re: Katsucon 2020 AMV Competitions
Basically, Katsucon has three contests: The Showdown (aka the Main Contest), NSFW (for R-rated videos), and Saturday Morning (for PG videos and videos that can be shown to kids). My guess is that either you accidentally submitted the video for the Saturday Morning contest or the AMV judges felt it was more appropriate in the Saturday Morning Contest
@ Silent Hero Studios. Here's the ballots for the NSFW Contest and the Saturday Morning contest.

I guess my issue here is that, granted I've never attended katsucon so it could be an exception, morning events are typically less attended compared to evening events, also not to put down a child's opinion but they are even more biased about amvs in that they'll vote purely on source footage alone.TnAdct1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 11:31 pmBasically, Katsucon has three contests: The Showdown (aka the Main Contest), NSFW (for R-rated videos), and Saturday Morning (for PG videos and videos that can be shown to kids). But i mean it's your show so you do it your way, I just may not enter again. I hope it all still runs smoothly tho

1. While it probably doesn't have the same turnout as the main contest and NSFW, there is still a decent turnout for the Saturday Morning contest. As the contest has been evolving in recent years, more and more Katsucon attendees are realizing that the videos in this contest are different from the main one and are attending it to see this fresh lineup. It also helps that this year, the contest started a little later (11:00AM compared to the usual 10:00AM)
2. While the contest is intended to provide videos that are more child-friendly (i.e. videos are at a max PG rated, videos featuring shows that kids would like), the audience is still the type you'd find at any AMV Contest.

They 100% shift around the entries based on where they feel they want them, heavily biasing by maturity level. I hope it runs smoothly, too, but that's not a good process. They also auto-add you to a newsletter and don't react to asking opting out (pro tip: get people to opt *in*). This is my last time participating purely because of the structure, sadly.

Re: Katsucon 2020 AMV Competitions
Did anyone else attend the NSFW AMV 1 at 10:30pm Friday night?
They started the show off with a blender that I really enjoyed and I'd love to be able to see it again. Any leads are greatly appreciated!!

I did have an amv submitted for the NSFW showing, but I have no clue if it was on Friday or Saturday night.
