Katsucon 2021 AMV Contests - Cancelled this year, see you in 2022!

Hello all! The 2021 Katsucon AMV Contests submissions are open!

Once again, we are offering three contests, each corresponding to a different maturity rating:

• The AMV Showdown, our PG-13 headliner show;

• The ever popular NSFW AMVs, our 18+ show; and

• Saturday Morning AMVs, our family-friendly (PG) show.

We also have an AMV Blender for new editors to show off their works in progress and for veteran editors to show short clips that aren’t long enough for a full AMV.


Our submission period starts now and will be open until December 1st (12/1/2020). We can’t wait to see what you have all come up with this year! In this thread, please feel free to share about the videos you’re working on and ask any questions not answered in the FAQ.

Any back-up plans in place in case Katsucon gets cancelled (which is definitely something consider, given how there's not set date as to when the Gaylord will reopen)?

Hola! I am definitely keeping virtual options in mind. I'm looking at Project Org Editor sponsored by the Org+MomoCon, online iron editors, and similar for inspiration. I will post any updates here.

Happy Halloween! There is just over a month until the AMV submission deadline (12/1) for Katsucon. We even have a Horror category in our NSFW AMV Contest if you're feeling spooky!

Hello all! Unfortunately, Katsucon 2021 has been canceled for health and safety reasons, so we will not be holding our normal AMV contests. We received some great videos this year and appreciate the awesome editors behind them. To those editors, thank you so much for your wonderful submissions! We look forward to a great show with you in 2022 instead!

Other cons have been doing that all year.

Not at the moment, though the idea was discussed. The convention is opting to cancel in lieu of an online equivalent this year.
