Quick rundown of the basic rules. Please see links above for the full event rules.
1. Videos must include anime related material, and video game content is allowable. We are shooting for around 80% content here. As usual, exceptions may be made by the panel of judges. Each circumstance is going to be different.
2. There are to be ABSOLUTELY NO BANNERS/BUMPERS either before or after the video. We will be adding our own bumpers for the contest.
3. Please no subtitles, watermarks, or credits of any kind. Just don't do it. It makes my judges sad because we end up DQing good videos. There are exceptions to this rule. It usually involves integration of some kind. Again it will be determined by the panel of judges.
4. No references to other contests. We cannot show videos promoting any other con/event.
5. Quality has really been a big thing over the last few years. We want your highest quality videos. This is starting to be 720p or better due to the large availability of high quality source. Not an absolute, merely a suggestion. I can accept very large files, so don't let that stop you.
6. Please keep it to a PG-13 rating. If you have a question whether it is allowable, please feel free to contact me.
7. You may submit a maximum of 4 entries per editor.
8. The categories that we will sort the videos into. If you have a category you think your video is best for, feel free to make a comment on the submission form. We will take it into account when picking the categories.
Action - Fast paced movement, explosions, fighting etc.
Comedy - If it makes us laugh, it will probably end up here. Parodies and trailer videos usually end up here.
Drama - It makes us cry, feel empathy, or tells a story.
Cat X - Anything that does not fall under the other categories. May include trailer videos, dance, extreme editing/effects, unique
concepts etc.
9. Last but not least. The video must not have a creation date any earlier than May 1, 2020.
You can always contact me here. Grant@animebanzai.org

Re: Anime Banzai 2021 Submissions Open
Hello editors! The anime banzai amv team is looking to start making educational videos about how to make an amv. I have a few questions to help us make as many videos as possible.
1. What os do you run?
2. What programs do you use
3. what do you know now that you wish you knew when you started

3. I didn't know how to do anything related to making AMVs before attempting to make one, other than how to watch anime. So anything.

3. It doesn't matter what editing program you have, you can still make good videos, the only limit is your imagination.

3. Patience. Taking the time to maul over a video to make it better than what you think it is. Moving from Windows Movie Maker also helps too haha.

Just a quick reminder, the submissions deadline is less than 3 months away. Don't wait until the last minute to get those videos to me.

Re: Anime Banzai 2021 Submissions Open
Whoops, I think I just signed up for this twice. I saw the announcement on Discord and sent in my video, forgetting that I'd already done so.
