I miss the early 2000s
I miss Myspace, Windows XP, and fullscreen computer monitors.
I miss Chester Bennington.
I miss Battlestar Galactica, Enterprise, the Star Wars prequels, and the Matrix sequels. I miss the days when we naively thought that Jar Jar was the worst thing beginning with the letters "JJ" that could possibly happen to Star Wars.
I miss video formats like AVI that could be read by pretty much every video editing program on the planet. Try importing an MP4 or Matroska file into Virtualdub and see what happens. Yes, I know lots of people made videos in Quicktime, RealMedia, or WMV because they didn't know any better, but most of what you'd find was mpg or AVI.
I miss Limewire, Morpheus, and Kazaa. I miss how they threw the pirate community and the user-created content community together, resulting in pirates accidentally discovering the wonderful world of amateur music videos and fake trailers. Now the content-creators are all on Youtube and the pirates are all on Bittorrent and we don't talk to each other. Yes, I know Shareaza and Soulseek exist, but the Gnutella network is orders of magnitude less popular than it used to be.
And you know what I miss most of all? THIS FORUM and the people who used to post here. AMV legends like ErMaC and Some Stupid Guy with Nothing Better to Do used to walk these halls on a daily basis. Now it's a ghost town visited every few months by nostalgic old farts like me.
Goddammit, I want it all back.

Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.

It loads just fine because I'm using a current version?
VirtualDub2, it's in the AMV Pack. You can just drag and drop the mp4/mkv into it, easier than ever, been able to do this for a few years now.

Re: I miss the early 2000s
VirtualDub2 is built off of VirtualDub so it is the "same" program, it's just different coders that did the updates and changes.the Black Monarch wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 12:46 pmVirtualdub and Virtualdub2 are different programsIleia wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 8:11 amthe Black Monarch wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 8:52 pmTry importing an MP4 or Matroska file into Virtualdub and see what happens.

I am one of those people who sticks with old software that I love and I stubbornly refuse to change even when I really should.
And even I have made the switch from Virtualdub to Virtualdub 2 and it's absolutely worth it.

I'm personally happy those days were gone. They were horrible, filled with not a lot of information and there was this dude that used to hang out here that was a total ass called ngsilver. Hate that guy. Glad he's gone.
