Mixing things up a bit with some unabashed BL, almost definitely influenced by the themes of intangible interpersonal connection and cyclical structuring that are covered in Adam Nayman's excellent book about the films of Paul Thomas Anderson, Masterworks, which I just finished reading.
Big ups to Tyler, big ups to Soubi Yamamoto (a truly unique & expressive visual sensibility that I was in great reverence to during the making of this video), big ups to Ye, and big ups to all of you!

I'm not a fan of rap because I can't follow quickly spoken words very well. By 0:50 the words were just part of the background music for me, so I may have missed parts of the story. But I've never heard of this anime, to begin with. The story you showed here was pretty easy to follow despite that, with an interesting art style. The sound of the music was a nice fit. I like that you didn't hesitate to linger on scenes, especially the parts with japanese text since they take a bit longer for me to read than english would. Thank you for sharing!

Ay Im glad the video resonated! I actually didn't even notice the Japanese text til I was deep in the editing process, and even then I can't read Japanese so idk what they say lmao. Hope they were somehow in tune with the video's story though!Arigatomina wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 11:04 pmI'm not a fan of rap because I can't follow quickly spoken words very well. The Japanese fit great and helped me see that the little boy he embraces is who he used to be. At 0:58 the tag says "lonely self" and at 2:20 it says "...is that okay?" It's sweet. I also like how it ended with him jumping before the final spoken line of the song. Forget coming to your senses. Stay in the fantasy. There's a merman in there! ;p

Wowowow that's a fantastic interpretation! I could def feel those notions while making the video (even if I didn't know how the text connected to that) and I'm so glad that ended up coming across, thanks for sharing!Arigatomina wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 2:02 pmThe Japanese fit great and helped me see that the little boy he embraces is who he used to be.
