I'm doing a Reanimation video - Yes, the WHOLE DAMN ALBUM.
If there's one good thing about Reanimation, it's that half the time, you can't tell where one song ends and another begins. With those tiny gears in my head trying to churn in spite of all the rust, I brought an idea to a few of my friends: doing an AMV to Reanimation - the WHOLE GODDAMN ALBUM.
We'd use Evangelion, of course, since that's the only thing that we have on DVD. We'd have to break a lot of rules. We'd have to recycle a lot of clips. We'd have to make our own mixes of some of the songs, and even cut a few out if they don't "flow" with the rest of the songs. The file would be huge. The work would drive us insane. The rewards would make us AMV Gods.

There's enough Eva episodes where you don't have to recycle clips if you do that. EVen IF they're 20 tracks on the album. If I can pull off not repeating any scenes in something, you can, too. 3 FMVs of Kuja in FFIX. In my AMV, not one clip of Kuja repeated itself. Not o one.
Er, on the onther hand, I think you should invite other people into the project, so it's not just Eva.

But... that wouldn't make any sense!
We've already established that "I" and "Me" will always refer to Shinji, and "You" will always refer to Asuka. This is for the sake of consistency; one video, one theme, one point of view. If Demon Dog Boy or Radical Ed started appearing, the video would go to shit faster than an elephant with diarrhea.
Also, if each clip is used only once, then most lyrics will get scenes that aren't quite right. In a video as long as this, a little repetition won't be too annoying.

I agree that should be as little repetition as possible, but for a video that is around an HOUR LONG, something has got to give. If we pull this off, no one will give a rip if a few scene repeat. They will be trying to take in an Hour Long AMV. I doubt many people will even be able to remember a specific scene from it, let alone that it happened twice. And even if someone notices, they won't care.

Reanimation itself is one hour, one minute, and six seconds long. However, we'd most likely cut out High Voltage and a few other tracks, and cannibalize "X-Ecutioner Style" for new transitions. I think the final product would be 45 or 50 minutes.
People WILL remember specific scenes. Some of them will even care. Most won't care, though.
What I really doubt is that anyone will be able to watch the whole thing in one sitting!

What I really doubt as that the "big boys" will recognise it, because most of them loathe Linkin Park. And to listen to most of the new CD would be like. . . Torture for them. So the video would probably go unrecognized, even if you managed to make it the best edited, action, whatever-story-you're-trying-to-pull-off video.

Not necessarily. Look at MeriC's "Traces of Insanity". A video compiled of a mercilessly unoriginal concept and combination of anime and music (DBZ + Linkin Park), but she did it, not regarding what people would care about the video. And she pulled it off, just fine.SQ wrote:What I really doubt as that the "big boys" will recognise it, because most of them loathe Linkin Park. And to listen to most of the new CD would be like. . . I mean, the video isn't dazzling with effects or eye candy, which I suppose is one reason why it's so popular: it gives off more meaning of the trauma Trunks goes through in his life than just trying to pull a Linkinball Z video.
She made it because she wanted to, not because she wanted other people to like it, which I think all videos should be made for that reason.

That wasn't what I meant. I didn't mean for it to sound like I was aying "Don't make it becaue it won't be recognised" I'm saying that "If you make it, it probably won't get recognised even if it's the best AMV ever made".
This is kind of like the writing industry. MeriC's popular already, if she were to write a book(make an AMV) a publisher would most likely publish it even if it's the worst written book in the world. However, if a freelancer(Not popular AMV Creator) wrote a book that was 10X better then MeriC's, it probably wouldn't get published by the company(recognised by other people) because it doesn't have a "big name" on it.
I hope you see where I'm going here. Sorry for any confusion.

If we make this video, it will be for the sheer joy of making such huge and awe inspiring AMV. If the only people who are inspired to awe is the two of us, then it would be more than worth it. It will also help us refine our AMV editing skills. If people reconize it, that will just be a pleasant bonus. We create (AMV's) for the joy of creating. Fame and Glory are just bonuses.
