Howdy howdy! We're back! As we move toward our 8th annual Christmas charity stream to date, The DanDy Boys and I have decided to bring back our AMV contest for a second year in a row. Since 2016, our organization has benefitted the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and will continue to do through the holiday season. In our 7 years of fundraising, we've raised over $44,000 for this cause, and are slowly approaching the $50k milestone. After a lovely number of submissions last year, we'd love to see your continued support through submissions or donations if you're able! (I know, it's not even Halloween..)
We're expanding our list of categories to four this year:
- Narrative - Edits that tell a heartwarming story, have dramatic flair, or are expressive by design
- Comedy - Make us laugh! These edits will have us smiling or chuckling from start to finish
- Action - Take us on a thrill ride. High energy, that 'oomph' and more
- Winter Wonderland - Match the flavor of the season. These edits should remind us of anything and everything winter
- Freshness rule: AMVs must not be premiered before January 1st 2023.
- Participants can submit 1 AMV to each category.
- Videos should not contain excessive violence, language, or content that would place it above a PG-13 rating. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Derogatory language is prohibited, and will disqualify you from the event.
- All submissions must be sent through a file sharing service that is accessible to the public (Google Drive, Dropbox, Mega, etc.). We do not accept physical submissions.
- Entries should be of reasonable video and audio quality. Videos that have a resolution and frame rate less than 720p may be disqualified.
- Entries should be between 1 to 5 minutes in length (give or take a few seconds).
- Audio from videos should be mostly music.
- Videos should not contain subtitles that were not created by the editor.
- Videos should not contain watermarks, TV logos, studio bumpers, credits or texts that are unnecessary to the content or context of the video.
- Videos must be in a standard format (mp4 preferred).
- Files sizes should be at most 1GB.
The award ceremony will be held Thursday, Dec. 7th at 7:00 PM EST at YouTube.com/hilovids. Afterwards, an Iron Editor between myself (hilovids) and ChetMcLovin (Himbo Productions) will take place. Awards will be presented for the following categories:
- Best in Category
- Best in Show
- Judges' Choice
- The hilovids Award for Sickest Effect
