Man the Cannons II Space Battleship Yamato 2199 AMV

Post by SailorTardis » Thu Jun 06, 2024 2:09 pm

This is the AMV I did for Momocon's 2024 AMVs on Stage event!

Space Battleship Yamato is one of my favorite anime franchises of all time, and I've been meaning to make a Yamato AMV for a LONG time now. The event just gave me the perfect excuse to, as Man the Cannons fits really damn well with Yamato.

(No joke, before the Momocon opportunity came, y'all almost got an entire video of Yamato set to the Space is Cool Markiplier song.)

TBH I am REALLY proud of how this turned out.

There was a lot more visual variety than I expected in this AMV, not just the space battles that I was anticipating but also a lot of character focus and completely unexpected scenes that made this a brisk watch with a bright and ever-changing color palette, lots of motion and an emotional tone that's flexible and always changing. The action scenes were effectively synced and there were lots of lighthearted and fun clips that played off of those in a really enjoyable way but somehow still worked with the song.

Another timely reminder that I need to watch this anime/huge franchise someday.

Thank you so much for the kind words!
