Re: Anime USA 2024 AMV Contest [Submissions Open!]
I'm confused by this rule. Does animation not of Japanese origin have to be inspired by Japan or no? And if yes, live action sources can be anything? Am I reading this right?yokochan2010 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 12:40 pm6) You may use footage from video games, anime, Japanese live action or any other content as well as animation you created yourself*. Your AMV must contain majority content from works inspired by Japanese video games or Japanese anime. Some examples of animation inspired by Japanese anime or video games would be the Netflix Voltron series, Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra, and Legend of Vox Machina. Submissions will be judged on a case by case basis. Videos that violate this rule may still be screened at a showcase per staff discretion.
*Exception is the Live Action Category where you may use any sources of live action content and not just Japanese live action content. To qualify for this category you must have more than 60% live action content.

I apologize for the confusion! Examples of non-Japanese animation that is inspired by anime are shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender, the Netflix version of Voltron, and Critical Role's The Legend of Vox Machina. We do judge this on a case-by-case basis, so if you're not sure your video fits this criteria, feel free to email a link to me and I'll take a look to see if it would be accepted!Rider4Z wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 10:46 pmI'm confused by this rule. For the live action part of the rule, Live Action sources can be any live action, it's not limited to Japanese related or inspired works. You can use the MCU, Star Wars, Star Trek, Hunger Games, the list goes on!

Posting this now before I head to Otakon this weekend, but we have just about a month left until submissions close for both contest entries and panels! We especially need more for the NSFW contest so if you have an AMV that fits that contest I invite you to submit!

TWO WEEKS OUT!
Hey y'all, one of the two assistant coordinators here, posting on behalf of yokochan2010! We have approximately two weeks left to submit!
Comedy, live action, and trailer/parody are all somewhat lacking in submissions right now, so if you are inclined and want a higher chance of making it to the finals...can't hurt to submit to one of those categories!
