Anime Banzai AMV Contest - Winners Posted
Here we go! We are accepting submissions for this year's contest.
Deadline is September 19th 11:59 PM MDT
Would love to beat our number of entries from last year, is it possible to get over 200?
Submission Page and Rules
https://www.animebanzai.org/amv-information/
Quick rundown of the basic rules. Please see the links above for the full event rules.
1. Videos must include anime related material, and video game content is allowable. We are shooting for around 80% content here. As usual, exceptions may be made by the panel of judges. Each circumstance is going to be different.
2. There are to be ABSOLUTELY NO BANNERS/BUMPERS either before or after the video. We will be adding our own bumpers for the contest.
3. Please no subtitles, watermarks, or credits of any kind. Just don't do it. It makes my judges sad because we end up DQing good videos. There are exceptions to this rule. It usually involves the integration of editor made subtitles of some kind. Again it will be determined by the panel of judges.
4. No references to other contests. We cannot show videos promoting any other con/event.
5. Quality has really been a big thing over the last few years. We want your highest quality videos. I understand it can be hard to get good quality out of older sources. Try and do your best as it will be on giant screens. Not an absolute, merely a suggestion. I can accept very large files, so don't let that stop you.
6. Please keep it to a PG-13 rating. If you have a question whether it is allowable, please feel free to contact me.
7. You may submit a maximum of 4 entries per editor.
8. The categories that we will sort the videos into. If you have a category you think your video is best for, feel free to make a comment on the submission form. We will take it into account when picking the categories.
Action - Fast paced movement, explosions, fighting etc.
Comedy - If it makes us laugh, it will probably end up here. Parodies and trailer videos usually end up here.
Drama - It makes us cry, feel empathy, or tells a story.
Cat X - Anything that does not fall under the other categories. May include trailer videos, dance, extreme editing/effects, unique
concepts etc.
9. Last but not least. The video must not have a creation date any earlier than May 1, 2023.

Re: Anime Banzai AMV Contest Open - Deadline Sept 19th
So I need to update this as things have been happening to the convention itself. After the convention going through quite a lot of decision making over the last few weeks, it has been determined that this will be the last year for the convention. It unfortunately means that this will also be the last year for this contest.
I am still looking for entries and would encourage support in order to make this final contest something to be proud of. I would very much like to see as many entries before the deadline as possible so that we can send the convention off with a bang.
You can still get direct access to the AMV page and the entry form on the website from this link Here
You can also get directly to the entry form from this Link
I am sorry to see this convention and contest come to an end after 20 years, but things have never fully recovered from Covid and some other issues the convention has faced.
I appreciate all the support from the community I personally have received running this contest for the last ten years, and I want to let everyone know that this will not be the end of contests from me. I am also running the contest for a new convention in the area, HachiCon. I hope to see as many of you as I can when entries open up again for next years HachiCon event.
In the meantime I hope you will soon be blowing up my email with entries so that we can have a truly epic goodbye.
Any questions, comments, or concerns, please email me at Grant@animebanzai.org or at gbradbury079@gmail.com
