So here's a timeline:
2006: I create an account on AMVOrg. I link it to a personal page I have hosted on freewebs.com. (That domain is now owned by Vistaprint.)
2009: I post what will be my last AMV for 15 years. I'm using a beat-up laptop with a dying graphics card. I can never seem to correctly match my project framerate to the source video. Things that sync perfectly in the editor preview often happen seconds apart in the rendered output. I save every single time I move something on the timeline because the crashes happen so frequently. I don't finish the video so much as I decide I don't have the moral fortitude to keep editing it.
2022: seasons PMs me on the AMVOrg forum about remastering my video from thirteen years ago. It's completely unexpected but leads to a nice conversation about the process behind the video and the few conservative adjustments in the remastered version. Now I kinda want to make an AMV again.
2024: I make an AMV again! seasons graciously watches several unfinished drafts and beta versions and provides notes. The whole thing turns out to be a lot more fun when I'm not constantly struggling against the non-linear video editor and the way things look in the preview corresponds directly to the way they look in the render. Am I going to be making AMVs all the time now? Is my video a masterpiece of editing? Probably not. But for once it comes out looking the way I intended it to look. It's very gratifying to put it all together.
Video contains moderate violence/gore and body horror. Spoilers for No.6, right up through the end of the series.
I have a little page for this video on my site with an ad-free embedded player and download links: https://hamster.dance/share/m3vp2aDA/
But there's also YouTube:
We're so back (with a No.6 vid)
