Is Puffy attempting to make a crossover?

Post by dji » Mon Jan 13, 2003 5:35 pm

I wonder how far of a crossover this will bring.. The japanese duo, Puffy.. is going.. *ack* go here.. click this, the article is self-explanitory.

I'm curious.. what do you think? Is this right approach? I would think they could benefit from doing some anime conventions as well.

Well, they've already had a fairly successful US concert tour last year (using the name "Puffy AmiYumi" to avoid confusion with a certain other performer).

While this Teen Titans venture may or may not be a big boost to their careers, it certainly IS a great step forward for American animation.

It's about time Japanese music gets some respect from the American TV establishment, especially in the realm of kiddie cartoons. I mean, what do we hate most about made for TV anime dubs? After the censorship, the distorted translation of the script, messing up the episode order, and the poor voice acting, they almost always go and change the music too! Somehting about "Japanese music not appealing to the American audience". Well, with this precident, they won't have that excuse any longer.

zimbach: Well said. I'm glad for this, small, but important step for Puffy.. that's one of the reasons I subtitle J-Rock and J-Pop music videos.. and show them at conventions.. to help break down and soften those walls of appeal between cultures.
