The series is rather mindless and mediocre compared to other series out there, but that's not really the reason. A lot (not ALL) of DBZ fans are annoying - they don't watch other series, they tend to have poor grammar and forum behavior, and (probably one of the biggest factors) they're responsible for many of the lousy Dragonball Z/Linkin Park videos, which they will then say are great and "kickass".

So mostly, I guess, it's the people, not the series, so much.

I'm not too big of a fan of the series perse, however I do love the japanese movie versions. I hope thats cool enough for most, and I myself, don't like many anime series too much.... I am more of a movie buff.

i'm feeling that, that's why i don't like the series at all really....I have the subbed japanese versions, you know where the fights start in the first 5-10 mins of the movie, and doesn't end until the movies over.

i'd have to agree with kthulhu

a lot of the people that i know that like DBZ only watch broadcasted anime like Yu-Gi-Oh! or such. they have not even heard of any other series.

and the reason why a lot of people hate it is the people that think it's the greatest thing on earth when you have series out there that really make you think and comprehend certain things. so yah, its more of the morons who think that shows like The Bachelorette are actually award winners.

i watched most of the series myself and i ended up falling alseep lots of times since all they did was talk and prolong the simplest fight.

My main beef was that DBZ wouldn't even be that big had it not shown on Cartoon Network. It had been on Fox where I live and no one liked it. DBZ had been around for awhile and no one enjoyed it. I dont mind if you like DBZ, that fine but dont stop at DBZ. As soon as you watch DBZ and you realize there is such a thing as "anime". Go and rent or buy a much better series: Eva is another good starter series. Although my first anime wasn't DBZ (It was Ronin Warriors) , I appreciate it for starting people on anime, but people please DBZ is on the bottom runge of the anime ladder move up and stop creating topics about it.

Slam Dunk TV is just as bad as DBZ. It takes 20mins of an episode to explain the happenings within 5 mins of a basketball game, not counting the flashbacks.

I think we should change our attitude toward them newbies. Instead of flaming them whenever they worship Goku or Vegeta, we try to move their interest to other anime.

I dont think it would too much of a problem if the newbies would look around in the forums before creating a topic like "Goku is bad ass" or something like that. There seem to be many keywords here in the forum that just naturally set off flamage. Like I said I dont hate DBZ, its just not interesting and kind of sub standard of an anime to me.

I don't have that much of a problem with DBZ. It's humor is good, it's action, when it gets to the damn point, is good, and the story line, though lacking, isn't SO shitty.

I just don't like how they drag one point through so many episodes.. it's like killing it. It's like, GET ON WITH IT!

The movies, I agree, are kick ass (With the exception of a coupel that are just crappy) - Absolutely AWESOME action anime movies, almost non-stop fighting, short setup to spectacular visuals and awesome moves.. DBZ movies, in short, just get your f'ing blood boiling. It's great.

I remember watching the version of Dead Zone and World's Strongest that they played on Toonami over and over and over.. World's Strongest was just fuckin' badass, and Dead Zone had some awesome voice acting for the English VA's, plus left the original DBZ musical score intact, which is a HUGE PLUS! DBZ's music is awesome. As for my note on the great voice acting... find the part where Goku is frozen into place and suddenly screams "KAAAAAIIIIIOOOOOOKAAAAAAANNN!!!" - For being DBZ, that's one of the best single screamy moments in dub history. Absolutely blood-curtling.
