A-Kon 14 a-m-v.org Showcase/Swap?

This may be a bit early to ask about for A-Kon 14, but…

Would anyone be interested in possibly getting together in a hotel room (I have one booked) for a BYOAMV, BYOB, AMV showcase / swap / meet? I have been considering doing this at the last couple of cons, but have always chickened out at the last second. It would have to be a kind of fly by the seat of your pants, we Don’t Know Till We Get There sort of thing, but it could work. Things we will have to work around: Room #, A-Kon’s AMV Contest, Cosplay, any interesting things showing in the video rooms.

From my past experience I think the AMV contest usually takes place on Fri (plus some people will be stuck at work/school, so Fri is probably out. Unless we all ditch the opening ceremonies to do this little shindig. Sat would be OK – except Cosplay at night. Sunday could be good, but people will be fighting check-out times and last min. I gotta hit the dealer's room dilemmas.

As far as figuring this out when we get there I’m not too sure. I could post a message at the hotels bulletin board, but we might hit too many none AMVers and fill up the room. It will after all be only one room. By the way – how many of you would be interested in doing this? I could post a message here, but too many people might not have an internet connection. I could give out a cell number. But that could be cumbersome trying to answer the phone and take in the con at the same time. Unless we did something where people dropped CD’s off one day, and the next we got together and passed out master CDs with all the videos (which raises another question – just how many videos would we accumulate and how many CDs would we need per person and how much time would it take to burn all these CD’s?) Maybe this isn’t a good idea?

I’m sorry if I am rambling but it’s late and I need to sleep.

Any thoughts/feedback would be great. – I’ll be back online tomorrow after 7PM Central Standard Time.

I'll be there and I happen to know a group of people who've got one of the Hyatt's Presidential Suites reserved. I don't want to try to steal your show but a larger room would be nice if we end up with more than say, 10 people. A lot of the people who reserved that room are musicians and I know they like AMVs so I'll ask them if they'd let us do something like this if there's interest in the larger room.

How will we meet up. I mean my name here is my badge name here so you can leave me a message on the message board maybe that is what we should try to do so we can meet up just tell what our badge names will be then we can find eachother with the message center. It is just an Idea if anyone has something better please post I am all ears. I can't wait for thw A-Kon.

La familia consists of MJ and Machine and a few others. They are usually the ones you want to hang out with at cons.
