Re: The Donnas
No. The Donnas suck hard. they are sooooooooo........... I dunno, but when their drummer was spinning her drumstick and pointing up in the air, i wanted to throw up on her. That was by far the stupidest thing i've ever seen, i wish there was a really really good all girl band that i could enjoy, because then all the stereotypes in my head would kill bob dole.imadude wrote:is there anyone else who thinks there cool in here

Re: The Donnas
*nods* I know what you mean. I don't think I've ever come across any female BANDS that don't annoy the hell out of me and/or suck. Sure, female *singing* groups are generally tolerable, but for some reason, girls rocking out with instruments half their size just... doesn't look right.Mr. Bucket wrote:No. The Donnas suck hard. they are sooooooooo........... Wow, I'm a traitor to my gender. A true anti-feminist I become!

Sleater-Kinney rock harder than almost any band, period. Female or male. I have 3 of their albums and they're all tops. They're sort of a punk band, but don't expect big riffs or 3-chord songs. There's no bass player, just 2 guitarists and a drummer, and the guitarists sort of share lead duties, playing note patterns that weave in and out of each other. It's much more fun than it sounds.Mr. Bucket wrote:my english teacher suggested to me a good all female band, called : sleater/kinney.................. but i just got home so i havnt downloaded any of them yet.... I shall though.
At first it took me a while to get used to the lead singer's voice. It's very unique, very powerful, not like any other girl's voice I'd ever heard before. I think we're all trained to think that girls can't rock, so when we see a girl playing an instrument as big as she is, or hear a girl sing with some authority, we instantly think "That's wrong! This is wierd!" And that was my first reaction to Sleater-Kinney, but after a few spins, I was totally digging it. This is how grrrl rock is supposed to sound, assertive, urgent, original, fun. Heck, that's what all rock is supposed to strive for.
"Dig Me Out" was where I started and suggest that you do too. "One Beat" is also great. Supposedly "Call The Doctor" is their best but I haven't heard it yet. Check them out. Download a song.

There are a ton of kick-ass girl bands. Anyone who says otherwise is stuck in the boys club that's today's radio.
