What you know, plus a few other things.

(1) The lesbian thing is a pathetic attempt at gaining popularity through pseudo-sexual exploitation of minors.

(2)All The Things She Said strikes me as a good song for a video about someone being literally driven mad by rejection and heartache, although it would be difficult fitting it to a non-shoujo-ai theme, given the nature of the song.

that crossed my mind more than once, though it did gain popularity in Russia ..oh teehee SNORT

The video is almost retarded. And the fact that the 'two voices' sound the same ( and I'm assuming that both take part in that song, because each girl is taking a shot at some lip synching, and not on the chorus parts of the song either) is ..I dunno. And if you look, the lip synching is doesnt even go to the music at all.

But yeah, I dig the song, whether it's the 'fake shit to make some money', whatever.

1. Better in the original Russian
2. The video was kind of cool (not because of the lesbians)
3. I liked it better before T.A.T.U became big here in the States

Well, it's almost ALWAYS better in teh original language. Just listen to the english version of Engel... horrrrrid amounts of suck.

I have an MP3 of engel in english..... very nasty... only really good if you don't know german and you want to find out the lyrics...

I first heard engel on on of the evangalion AMV's that i got... still like the song... but i prefer Du Haust..

I remeber when the TATU craze come over one of my housemates and myself around 6 months ago when this was last brought up here. I got over it after a fortnight of devotion and was suddenly very suprised to hear All the Things She Said on the most pooppy commercial station in Australia.

Also I was shallow on this one and a lot of the appeal was the whole russian lesbian schoolgirl deal.

Screw you fools! Engel in English is awesome. There is nothing horrible about it. Both the German and English Versions are very good.

Yeah, the whole Eastern-bloc Lolita thing is just a big schtick, but what a fabulous gimmick! Sure, it's probably all just a big myth, but like Santa Claus, it's one that I'll go along with just because it's fun.

And you might say that's sick because they're underage, and hence, I'm somehow supporting child pr0n. Well, I don't see them doing anything illegal. What they do in their own time (which is probably with their boyfriends, not each other) is their own business, and certainly nothing that I'm involved in.

I wouldn't even bother with them if I didn't like their music. Honestly, I think that 200 km/h in the Wrong Lane was the best dance-pop album of 2002. I admit that it's short (there's really only 8 songs here, padded out with 3 alternate versions), but half of the songs are simply killer tracks. The choruses are catchier than anything than anything off of Britney or Christina's albums (all of their albums, in fact), and the beats are positively huge compared to anything being played on radio today. If you don't like their voices...well, that's fine, but don't say they sound the same. And if they did, what would that matter? All the so-called divas that have had pop radio in a headlock for the past 5 years sound the same. Hopefully these girls can come and shake things up, though if they did, it would only be a matter of time before some conservative groups started protesting and threatening boycotts. Sure, there's nothing wrong with our kids listening to trash like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera (despite their nearly-naked photo shoots and songs full of sexual innuendo), but when you get 2 girls that kiss...uh oh, that's too much!

Their lips are out of sync in the "All the Things She Said" video because it was originally made with the Russian lyrics in it. Going back and re-shooting the whole thing them "singing" in English for the English version would have been a big waste of money, so they video makers just tried to drop the English lyric track onto the original video, with mixed results. Haven't seen the video for "Not Gonna Get Us," but I read that they steal a truck in it. I bet that it crashes in the end (a nod to the Smiths for sure, and they did cover "How Soon Is Now?").

What's that anime series with the lesbian girls in it? Heh, I guess that's like asking "what's that anime series with the giant robots in it?" Anyway, I'm suprised that we're not seeing any t.A.T.u. AMV's for that one.

The obvious shoujo-ai themes aside, "Not Gonna Get Us" would make for a great action AMV. Though it would work best if it was a video with girls in it. One with, say...Dragonball Z would just be silly, though I guess most Dragonball Z videos are somewhat silly anyways.
