the buddhist thing was interesting. There arent enough people around here who are willing to put up intelligent conversation about religion, and like zero that study buddhism or hinduism or any of the ancient eastern religions.
I'm interested in hindu and buddhist views, alot of them have purer archaic roots than even the kabalah

Then don't say things that will result in you being patronized....Pierrot Le Fou wrote:I'd appreciate not being patronized. Of course The Matrix has nothing to
do with interstellar bounty hunters. I was referring to the fact that certain
scenes from Cowboy Bebop have an unshakable resemblance to The
Matrix.
Anyway, Cowboy Bebop, much like the Matrix, itself was paying homage to and borrowing from other film sources as well. Scene layouts and story structures in Cowboy Bebop aren't nearly as unique and original as you make them out to be, rather it was the ability of the animators and production staff to insert new energy into those borrowed ideas making them appear fresh and exciting to the viewer. The Matrix managed to do the same thing.

me = former Catholic and former teacher of science who sees more truth in Buddhism's emphasis on practicality and experimentation than on preached dogma.RadicalEd0 wrote:me = theosophist in training :\
Yes, there is something to be said about the several thousand years of Buddhism's ability to stay relevant to whatever culture and time period it happens to find itself. In some strange way, perhaps the Matrix/Animatrix stories are assisting Buddhism. Western culture is too stigmatized with the behavior of "you're trying to force your beliefs upon me, so I reject them." With Matrix/Animatrix, we <perhaps> see the subtle, mass introduction of Buddhism's core concept that the world we see is not "real"; that it is, in some way, less than what we could know, if we're willing to make the decision.

I really liked the 9 minutes I have seen of the animatrix. I am glad that the first part shows how everything happened. It is the one part of the Matrix that I really wanted to see. I cant wait for the release of the DVD in june.
